History

Marc Destrubé was born in Victoria, BC on October 19, 1955. He studied at the Victoria Conservatory of Music, and worked with Sandor Végh in Salzburg, Steven Staryk and David Zafer in Toronto, and Norbert Brainin in London. He has served as guest concertmaster of the Academy of Ancient Music and the Orchestra of the 18th Century, and led the Ensemble dell' Anima Eterna in Belgium in 1991. He is first violinist with the Axelrod String Quartet, quartet-in-residence at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C., and with the string quartet Microcosmos in Vancouver. He is a member of the Turning Point Ensemble in Vancouver; a founding member of the Tafelmusik Orchestra; the founding and artistic director of the Pacific Baroque Festival in Victoria; and the Artistic Advisor to the New York City ensemble Dorian Baroque.
