The Canadian Women's Voters Congress (CWVC) was registered as a non-profit society in BC in 1998. The purposes of the Society, according to their Constitution, were to involve women in the process of societal change; convince women that they are responsible for, and have a major role in shaping the world in which they live; persuade women that they have a perspective and vision that may be different from the status quo; encourage women to act; and inspire women to use political and organizational systems with indivdiual efforts to shape a better world. The Congress is run by a Board of Directors consisting of a President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer.
The Congress' main focus has been to operate the Women's Campaign School, after Yale University's Women's Campaign School invited a representative of the CWVC to attend their school. The Women's Campaign School in Canada has operated annually since 1999 with participation from prominent women politicians such as Penny Priddy, Darlene Marzari, Sen. Pat Carney, Alexa McDonough, Belinda Stronach, and Sheila Copps.
The CWVC is funded through membership and private fundraising ventures.
