History

Yvonne Klan was born in a logging camp near Victoria, BC in 1930. She developed her literary tastes in the bunkhouses of her youth, where it wasn't uncommon for rough–hewn loggers to spend their evenings reciting bunkhouse ballads. She wrote many historical articles on the history of British Columbia and is the author of The Old Red Shirt: Pioneer Poets of British Columbia. She was married to poet Peter Trower for twenty-five years.
