Sub-series consists of the Associate Vice-President, Academic's correspondence with, related to, or copied from the University Archives during the period in which it reported to the AVP Academic (1990-1996). After 1996 the Archives reported to the Dean of Student Services (1996-2000), returned again briefly to the AVP Academic reporting portfolio in 2000-2001, then moved to the AVP Policy, Equlty, Legal (2001- ). Activities documented in the correspondence include departmental budget planning and staffing, search for the University Archivist (1993-1994), policy development, and establishment of the SFU's access and privacy program in 1994 as part of the university's compliance with the provincial Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.

Arson related documents

This sub-series documents the Sons of Freedom involvement in arson and bombing, including of the burning of J. J. Verigin’s house in Brilliant, BC. The sub-series consists of witness statements, articles and newspaper clippings. This sub-series includes printed, mimeographed and handwritten documents in Russian and/or English. Some are original documents and some are photocopies. In some cases, Russian handwritten document is supplied with a Russian and English version mimeograph.

Article drafts

Sub-series contains several unpublished drafts of articles written by Delgado relating to historical events such as the Cuban Missile Crisis and the September 11, 2001 attack.

Sub-series contains drafts and accompanying correspondence about articles, talks and essays written by Beaulieu.

Articles, abstracts and conference papers

Over the course of his career, Beyerstein wrote or co-wrote over 40 journal articles; 5 books; over 50 chapters in books and conference proceedings; and over 40 other publications, technical reports, book reviews, and editorial comments. He was also invited to give addresses at over 150 conferences and symposia. This sub-series consists of copies of Beyerstein's publications and conference papers that he maintained over the course of his career. Includes offprints, reprints, abstracts, conference proceedings, and proofs.

Articles, notes, correspondence

This sub-series contains various records created and collected by Eli Popoff and Iskra staff such as notes, drafts of articles and issues of Iskra as well as material such as articles, clippings, notes and data collected as a research resource for the Iskra content. It contains both published and unpublished material.

Artwork by other artists

Sub-series consists of drawings, sketches, collages, and prints by other artists, a number of whom are friends and acquaintances of Peter Trower, including Jack Wise, Bus Griffiths, Godfrey, and Karen Severson. Includes several portraits of Trower.

Artworks by others

Series consists of original prints of visual poems by Eric Zboya (whose work has been published by "filling Station" and No press), a chess game given to Beaulieu on the occasion of the publication of "Flatland," and a collage given to Beaulieu by text, visual and sound poet Michael Basinski.

Assistant to the Vice-President, Academic

Sub-series consists of records relating to the activities of Ian Mugridge (Assistant VP Academic, 1972-1975), Robert R. Walsh (Special Assistant to the VP Academic, 1976-1977), and Sue Roppel (Assistant to the VP Academic, 1996-1999). Activities and topics documented include budget planning, university endowment funds, and (from 1999) external reviews. Records include correspondence and reports, including external review reports. Note that there is a gap in the series between 1977 and 1995.

Associate Vice-President, Academic

Sub-series consists of records relating to the activities of the Office carrying out a number of the core responsibilities of the AVP Academic. Activities documented include high-school liaison, IT systems planning, and government liaison; space allocation planning, renovations, and the activities of the University Space Advisory Committee; consultations and negotiations with the Teaching Support Staff Union (TSSU) and the SFU Faculty Association (SFUFA); the AVP Academic's committee work, including chairing of the Committee to Review Personal Safety and Security at SFU (CRPSS) and participation in university computing committees; participation in the British Columbia Council on Admissions and Transfers (BCCAT); the management of legal disputes involving the university, harassment cases, and the development of the university's Harassment Policy; and development of the AVP Academic's file classification system. Records include correspondence, policies, and reports; meeting agenda, minutes, and supporting papers; space inventories, audits, proposals, allocations, agreements, leases, and architectural plans and drawings; legal advice and copies of legal decisions and other court documents; file indices; and notes, drafts, working papers, and printed reference material.

Associate Vice-President, Academic

Sub-series consists of records relating to the activities of the Associate Vice-President, Academic (AVP). Division of responsibilities between the VP and the AVP has changed over time and varied according to the individuals holding these positions. This sub-series includes the actual correspondence of the AVP for the period prior to 1983; around that date, the Office of the AVP Academic established its own file classification system and thereafter the AVP's correspondence was maintained separately (see fonds F-201). Activities and topics documented in the files include meetings between the VP and the AVP, policy development, program proposals, government liaison, international activities, budget planning, supervision of units that reported to the AVP, high-school liaison, promotion of university research, space allocation planning, renovations, and construction of new buildings. Records include correspondence, proposals, reports, meeting agenda and minutes, agreements, capital plans, space simulation model reports, architectural plans and drawings, and notes and working papers.

Association of Canadians of Russian Descent (ACRD)

This sub-series contains records of the Association of Canadians of Russian Descent dating between 1960 and 2010. These records include minutes of meetings, correspondence, publications, photographs, membership lists, programs, administrative records, financial records, songs text, music, notes, newspaper clippings, ephemera, Iskra issues, essays and photographs. Because of the pro-Russian attitude of this organization came under scrutiny of both Canadian and US security branches. Part of the records relates to the organization and celebration of the 70th jubilee celebration of Doukhobor arrival in Canada and Russian-Canandian Festival of 1987.
Records in both Russian and English, some include translations, handwritten and typed.

Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC)

Sub-series consists of records relating to the Vice-President, Academic's interactions with the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC). AUCC is a public policy and advocacy organization for Canadian public and private not-for-profit universities and university-degree level colleges. Records include correspondence, reports, and AUCC statistics, briefs, news releases, bulletins, brochures and other printed matter.
