Ceremonial activities

Sub-subseries consists of photographs arising from Bennett's ceremonial activities as Premier, such as official openings and dedications, official visits and tours, and government social gatherings. Photos of official visits and tours relate to Bennett's trips to Europe, Hong Kong, Japan, and locations in Canada. Photos of opening ceremonies relate to the opening of the Pacific Great Eastern Railway, the Arrow Dam, the COMINCO research centre, the Fraser Wharves, the Interprovincial Steel and Pipe Co. Ltd. plant, the Malahat Highway, the Nine Mile Canyon Bridge, and other projects. Photos of government social gatherings relate to the Pacific Coast Curling Association dinner, B.C. Sports Hall of Fame presentations, and other events.

Challenge Program

Sub-sub-series consists of records relating to the administration of the Challenge Program and includes correspondence with the campus community, student participants, and the provincial and federal government; supervisor lists; policies and procedures; AUCE 2 union concerns; blank project forms and memos; job postings and project proposals; funding allocations; and program brochures produced by the government. Records include correspondence and working papers, reports, financial statements and publications.

Chaplaincy

Sub-sub-series consists of records relating to the daily administration of the Chaplaincy on campus and includes Dean's correspondence with religious representatives on and off campus; planning for the "Festival of Religion and the Arts" hosted by the Chaplaincy Office; chaplaincy denomination statistics; and an interview between the Acting Chairman of the Chaplaincy and the Peak. Records include correspondence and working papers, reports, news releases, and statistics.

Chaplain's Office

Sub-sub-series consists of records relating to the daily administration of the Chaplain's Office on campus and includes employee lists, Dean's correspondence with the Office and external religious affiliations, budget planning documents, a proposal for an Interfaith Centre on campus, and brochures produced by the Chaplain's Office. Records include correspondence, minutes, reports, working papers, newspaper clippings, financial statements, and publications.

Chronological and topical subject files

Sub-sub-series consists primarily of photocopied material from the Sun, the Province, the Peak, the Canadian Association of University Teachers (CAUT) Bulletin, and other publications relating to the development of SFU. Subjects, events and activities documented include post-secondary education in the 1960s; student activism; the development and administration of SFU; post-secondary educational systems; faculty-administration relations; the Board of Governors; the CAUT Censure; the PSA affair; the Shell service station dispute; and the presidencies of Patrick McTaggart-Cowan and Kenneth Strand. Records include journal and magazine articles; newspaper clippings; reports and book excerpts.

Citizen Sherman files

Sub-sub-series contains records relating to Fellman's book Citizen Sherman: A Life of William Tecumseh Sherman (New York: Random House, 1995). The work was named a New York Times Notable Book for 1995, and it was finalist for the Lincoln Prize and Honorable Mention for the W.K. Ferguson Prize.

Records include correspondence with the publisher (Random House), editor (Robert Loomis), Fellman's literary agent (Bella Pomer), and others; contracts, notes and working papers, manuscript reviews, publicity material, and copies of book reviews that appeared in journals and media outlets. No manuscript is included among the records.
