Biographical history

Ken Lester managed the Vancouver punk band, D.O.A., in the early 1980s. He had previously worked for the Georgia Straight and Terminal City Express, and was an organizer of the 1971 smoke-in that turned into the Gastown Riot. He co-wrote the screenplay for Terminal City Ricochet, a 1990 film by director Zale Dalen, starring Jello Biafra.

Custodial history

The records were in the custody of Ken Lester until their acquisition by Simon Fraser University Library Special Collections and Rare Books in 2009.

Scope and content

Fonds consists of posters, handbills, zines, newspapers, comics, original artwork, scripts, promotional material and audiovisual records related to the Vancouver political art and punk scenes in the 1980s and 1990s.
