Scope and content

Series consists of records relating to Mark Winston's position as a professor of Biological Sciences at Simon Fraser University, as a professor and Fellow in SFU's Undergraduate Semester in Dialogue program and Centre for Dialogue, and as an instructor in related dialogue, facilitation, and leadership courses and programs. Of particular note are the Knowledge Network "Bees and Beekeeping" televised course written and delivered by Winston; the Bee Masters course offered to the public; graduate student supervision and research records; and two SFU Apiculture "Heavenly Honey" t-shirts. Also included are lecture notes for one pre-SFU course taught by Winston.

Records include correspondence, lecture notes, handouts, assignments, exams, working papers, reports, certificates, photographs, slides, and audio-visual materials.

      Access to the moving images in sub-series 5 is restricted for preservation reasons due to the age and fragility of the storage medium on which they are stored (video reels, U-matic and VHS tapes). The Archives will provide access only through digitization of the originals. As of October 2012, none of the videos had been digitized. Consult the reference archivist for more information about accessing these records.

      Photographs are located in sub-series 2, files 18 and 68 through 70 (slides); sub-series 3, file 2 (prints); sub-series 4, files 70 through 72 (slides); sub-series 5, files 1 through 4 (slides); and sub-series 6, files 6 and 28 (prints). Moving images are located in sub-series 5 and include originals and copies on 8 video reels, 19 U-matic tape videocassettes, and 1 VHS videocassettes; artefacts are located in sub-series 2, file 1.
