Series consists of records relating to the activities of the Office of the Vice-President, Academic, including budget planning, involvement in teaching and faculty staff matters, meetings with other senior university administrators, and supervision of university departments that reported to the VP Academic, either directly or indirectly through the Associate VP Academic. The arrangement of the material into sub- and sub-sub-series is based on the original file classification system used by the VP Academic's Office to organize the records. Sub- and sub-sub-series are generally arranged chronologically. File lists are arranged chronologically.

Note that as departments moved into and out of the reporting portfolio of the VP Academic, correspondence with those departments was shifted accordingly in the file classification plan. As a result, records relating to individual departments may be dispersed through time over several different archival series. See Appendix A, Access Points Index, to cross-reference archival series by department name.
