The files in the series were created by Archives' staff as aids to reference, at first called "vertical files." Starting in the 1990's, files were opened for popular reference inquiries, to which relevant material from different fonds and collections was copied and added. Other records were incorporated when identified or acquired through informal or ad hoc channels (e.g., press releases printed from email, reference inquiry results, inter-office mail from unknown senders, etc.). The vertical files were originally stored with the Archives' active reference files, and were added to this collection in 2023 to help increase access to the file contents.

Series consists of records relating to various aspects of SFU history, including events, people, anniversaries, and campus development. Includes press releases, newspaper clippings, correspondence, reports...

Files are arranged alphabetically.
