Food Services

Sub-sub-series consists of records relating to the daily administration of Food Services on campus and includes correspondence with food services company vendors and the on-site staff of Servomation and Beaver; contracts, proposals, and development plans; Food Services Committee working papers; financial statements; policies and procedures; and campus concerns regarding menus, food quality, prices, and dining space. Reports include "SFU Food Services Study," "Review of Food Services for SFU," "Food Services Report," and "A Study of Aspects of Food Services at SFU." Records include correspondence and working papers, minutes, financial reports and budgets, and legal contracts.

University Centre Building and Food Services

Sub-sub-series consists of records relating to the administration of the University Centre Building and food services on campus and includes leasing and vendor contracts; a copy of the contract between the university and the student society regarding funding for the University Centre Building; budgets; correspondence with the university community; insurance reports; licensing policies and procedures; service hours and renovation proposals; and catering menus. Records include correspondence and working papers, financial statements, contracts and legal documentation, and publications.

Ancillary Services

Sub-series consists of the Vice-President, Academic's correspondence with, related to, or copied from Ancillary Services. For the duration of its existence as a separate department (1969-1984), Ancillary Services reported to the VP Administration. It merged with Physical Plant and Planning in 1984 to form Facilities Management. Activities and topics documented in the correspondence include campus security, traffic and parking, telephone and mail services, photocopying and duplicating, and food services on campus. Records include correspondence, reports, proposals, and contracts.

Housing and Residences

Sub-series consists of records relating to the daily administration of housing and residences on campus and the Vice-President's correspondence with Housing and Residence staff, the Board of Governors, and members of the university community regarding children's play areas, food services, family residences, conference accommodations, and living conditions; development of rent collection policies and residence rules; new housing proposals; student rental inquiries; and budget and operating statements. Also included are records of the Residence Planning and Policy Committee and the Residences Tenants' Association and student housing questionnaires. Records include correspondence and working papers, agendas and minutes, reports, financial statements, surveys, statistics, contracts, and publications.

Photocopies from the Peak

Sub-sub-series consists of several hundred full-page photocopies from The Peak relating to the governance of Simon Fraser University; student affairs; student activism; and academic freedom and tenure. These issues of the Peak are in chronological order. Hugh Johnston referred to these by creating a rough index of articles identified by the page and date of the Peak issues. This index is provided in pages 65-77 of the Yellow Notebook in sub-sub-series three. Subjects, events and activities documented include anti-war rallies and draft dodgers; athletics; football; tuition, student loans and bursaries; the BC Union of Students; Canadian Union of Students (CUS); the Canadian Association of University Teachers (CAUT) and the Association of University and Colleges of Canada (AUCC); the Faculty Association; Food Services; residences; registration; Graduate Student Society; the PSA affair; Students for a Democratic Society (SDS); Students for a Democratic University (SDU); the Shell service station dispute; the student movement; the Simon Fraser Student Society; and the Women's Movement.
