Series has been arranged into the following four sub-series: Journalism and broadcasting records (1960-2000); Non-fiction works records (1943-1999); Fiction and poetry records (1963-2001); and General writing records ([194-]-1993).

Series is made up of souvenirs, personal notes, and ephemera kept by French Shackleton from or about places she visited. Destinations include the U.K., Martinique, Mexico, the Bahamas, St. Kitts and New Orleans.

Sub-sub-series consists of research, interviews, clippings, contracts, royalties, correspondence, photograph and accounts relating to Shackleton’s book, published 1975 by McClelland & Stewart, and subsequent article on Tommy Douglas. "Tommy Douglas" was reissued by Formac in 1983.

"Ask No Quarter: A Biography of Agnes Macphail"

Sub-sub-series consists of correspondence, royalties, notes, and news clippings relating to Shackleton and Stewart’s book, published in 1959 by Longmans, Green, and subsequent article on Agnes Macphail. Series also contains correspondence, research notes, and the script for the 1977 NFB documentary film “The Lady from Grey County.”
