Poetry

Sub-series consists of letters, schedules and itineraries for reading engagements, newspaper clippings on Pierre Coupey, research materials, drafts of poetic works by Coupey, annotations from Bill Schermbrucker on a first draft for the poem, “Moon Bay,” a draft copy of “The Alphabet of Blood” as well as a published photocopy of the poem. Also included are correspondence and publishing information from Gary Geddes, a letter from Coach House Press (bp Nichol and Michael Ondaatje), an award certificate from The Malahat Review (circa 1980s), poetic materials for the “Interventing the Text: A Symposium, 1991,” as well as drafts and poems from Coupey’s formative years as a youth, including a significant letter from 1957 from Canadian poet Louis Dudek to Coupey and a newspaper clipping about Dudek. This photocopy of this seminal letter from Dudek fuelled Coupey’s life-long passion as a poet. A few of the early poems from this sub-series are included in Coupey’s publication Bring Forth the Cowards. Also included in this sub-series are drafts and working copies of poems for “Notes Towards a Requiem,” 1997 and Cutting Out The Tongue: Selected Poems: 1962-1997 by Coupey.

Correspondence

File consists of correspondence, both incoming and outgoing, between members of the Kiss and Tell artist collective and others. Correspondence relates primarily to the “Drawing the Line” exhibition in Sidney, Australia, the publication of the book “Drawing the Line: Lesbian Sexual Politics on the Wall,” and responses to the show and book.

Correspondence with Al Hart

Sub-series contains incoming and outgoing correspondence between Skinner and Al Hart. Hart was first Skinner's editor at various publishers and later he was her literary agent.

Film scripts, screenplays and related records - general

Sub-series consists of scripts and screenplays written by Norman Klenman, alone and in collaboration with others, for feature and short films, produced and not produced, as well as related records. Additional material includes related notes, correspondence, contracts, research material, and moving images. Includes screenplays for “Beggarman’s Game,” “Dilbeck Junior,” “The Ecstasy of Rita Joe,” “A Forest of Eyes,” Ivy League Killers (a.k.a. “The Fast Ones”), “Nails,” "Now That April’s Here," “Passion” (based on The Gambler), “Riel”, and “Voices,” as well as a number of other scripts written for the National Film Board and CBC-TV. Series also includes two "Ivy League Killers" film reels.

“Woodsmen of the West” screenplays and related records

Sub-series consists of records relating to Norman Klenman’s development of a screenplay for a feature film titled “Woodsmen of the West,” inspired by M. Allerdale Grainger’s memoir of the British Columbia coast in 1908, and plans for its production. Records include several screenplay drafts, notes and ideas, research material, contracts, and production budget and casting proposals.

The Judas hills records

Sub-series consists of records relating to Peter Trower's 2000 novel "The Judas Hills." Records include notes, outline and manuscripts from various stages of the novel's development (including first and final drafts), editorial comments by John Moore, Trower's storyboard sketches, and Trower's comments on the novel's cover design.
