British Columbia Legislative Assembly

Sub-subseries consists of photographs arising from activities of the British Columbia Legislative Assembly, such as meetings, the opening of legislative sessions, and other activities. Subseries includes photographs of Members of the British Columbia Legislative Assembly, seated in the Assembly, engaged in committee work and other activities, as well as individual portraits of various political figures. Subseries also contains photographs from a trade meeting and a Premiers' conference. Photographs of MLA activities include a photo of the Canadian Confederation Centennial Committee of British Columbia, as well as photos of MLA's at various events. Trade meeting photographs include Bennett and individuals such as representatives from the Council of the Forest Industries of British Columbia and from the Timber Trade Federation of the United Kingdom. Premiers' conference photographs include Bennett and other provincial delegates at an unidentified location.

British Columbia government projects

Sub-subseries consists of photographs arising from various construction projects and other undertakings of the British Columbia government. Materials relate to the Okanagan Lake Bridge, the Trail Bridge, the Port Mann Bridge, the Deas Island Tunnel, the Castlegar pulp mill, the British Columbia Vocational School, the Peace River project, various B.C. Power Commission projects, brush cutting activities in various areas of B.C., and other projects.

Leadership Development Program

Sub-sub-series consists of records relating to the administration of the Leadership Development Program and includes workshop and retreat planning documents and photos; correspondence with student leaders and members of the university community; program interviews, evaluations and reports; a Student Leader Handbook; copies of "Leader's Digest" and "Class Quarterly" newsletters; minutes of the Recruiting Committee; organization documents about SPLASH conferences; and draft budgets. Records include correspondence and working papers, agendas and minutes, reports, financial statements, photographs, and publications.

Alcohol and Drug Program

Sub-sub-series consists of records relating to the administration of the Alcohol and Drug Program on campus and includes correspondence with members of the university community and external organizations regarding alcohol and drug issues; drug and alcohol information pamphlets; polices and procedures regarding alcohol management on campus; minutes from the Alcohol/Security and Alcohol Policy Committees; security reports regarding alcohol and drug offenses on campus; and Bill Stewart's documents as a member of the Advocacy Committee with the Alcohol-Drug Education Service of Vancouver. Work Study Program

Sub-sub-series consists of records relating to the administration of the Work Study Program and includes correspondence with the university community, student participants, the provincial government and AUCE 2; student concerns regarding the program; project applications; salary policy and procedures; a copy of the 1982/1983 Statement of Agreement; the 1982/1983 Work-Study Manual; project reports; and budget papers. Sexual Harassment

Sub-sub-series consists of records relating to the administration and development of sexual harassment policies and women's safety programs on campus and includes correspondence with the campus community; funding requests; minutes of the Sexual/Physical Assault Committee, the Sexual Harassment Committee and the Sexual Harassment Policy Committee; campus incident reports; university responsibilities regarding sexual harassment; sexual harassment policies; and newspaper articles. General

Sub-sub-series consists of records relating to general topics relating to Student Services Departments and includes correspondence with members of the university community. Activities documented include administration of Futures and the Management by Objectives programs and review of Student Services. Records include correspondence and working papers, minutes and reports.

International Office

Sub-sub-series consists of records relating to the daily administration of the International Office on campus and includes correspondence between the Office and university community regarding international students. Activities documented include development of orientation, counselling and programs for international students; space and funding proposals; International Club newsletters; student refugee profiles; conference and seminar information; and the document "Report of the Task Force on International Students at Simon Fraser University." Also included are records relating to SFU's involvement with the World University Service of Canada (W.U.S.C.) and the Canadian Bureau for International Education (C.B.I.E.). Residences

Sub-sub-series consists of records relating to the daily administration of residences on campus and includes housing reports and student residence proposals; residence rental contracts; new residences planning documents; policies and procedures; and correspondence with students in residence, the City of Burnaby, the Tenant's Association, Residence Policy Committee, Residence Appeals Committee, Residence and Housing External Review Committee, and the Budget Committee. Also documented are issues related to residence staffing, living restrictions, campus parking, security and renovations, rental increases, student complaints, and publications produced by Residences about campus and off-campus housing. Financial Aid

Sub-sub-series consists of records relating to the daily administration of the Financial Aid Office on campus and includes correspondence with students, clubs, and government organizations regarding funding, staff positions and program development; budgets, policies and procedures; adjudication documents regarding scholarships, awards, bursaries and emergency loans to students; and reports from the Senate Committee on Scholarships, Awards and Bursaries and the University Review Committee on Financial Aid. Publications

Sub-sub-series consists primarily of photocopied material from the Sun, the Province, the Peak, the Canadian Association of University Teachers (CAUT) Bulletin, and other publications relating to the development of SFU. Subjects, events and activities documented include post-secondary education in the 1960s; student activism; Chancellor Gordon Shrum; the development and administration of SFU; post-secondary educational systems; faculty-administration relations; the Board of Governors; the CAUT Censure; the PSA affair; the Shell service station dispute; and the presidency of Kenneth Strand. Sub-sub-series consists primarily of photocopied material on prominent members of the SFU community including administrators, faculty and students (for list, see "Access points"). Subjects, events and activities documented include academic freedom; academic planning; the PSA affair; faculty associations; recruitment of department heads; faculty appointments and the Teaching Assistants affair. Sub-sub-series contains a diary of the daily activities of George Suart, appointed as SFU’s first Vice-President for Administration in 1968.
