Assistant to Vice-President, University Services

Series consists of records relating to Ian Kelsey and William (Bill) Stewart as the Assistant to Vice-President, University Services and their liaison with university services staff, departments, and committees on campus. For a list of the departments and committees, see Access Points below. Records also consist of evaluation forms used by Counsellors; a financial aid study; budget development; reports on and planning for highschool and college recruiting visits; correspondence regarding handicapped students, rotunda renovations, student employment, orientation and workshops; and policy development. Records include correspondence and working papers, financial statements, agendas and minutes, reports, surveys and publications.

Subject Files

Series consists of records relating to the Vice-President's liaison with various departments and projects on campus. For a list of the departments, see Access Points below. Records also consist of adjudication of student bursaries and fees; programming for the "SFU Today" television show; community liaison activities; surveys on non-registering students and student attrition; the student garden plot project; orientation planning; renovation proposals for the rotunda; and a proposed campus poison control centre. Records include correspondence and working papers, financial statements, reports, surveys and publications.

Director of University Services

Series consists of records relating to Stephen Stratton's work as Director of University Services. Activities documented include new student orientation; wheelchair students on campus; participation on the Deans Fees Committee; projects including visits to local high schools and student placement; a proposal for integration of Financial Aid and the Resources Office; studies on student attrition and withdrawals; and liaison with student services including Day Care, Health Services, Counselling, and the Simon Fraser Student Society. Records include correspondence and working papers, reports, minutes and statistics.

Student Services

Sub-series consists of the Vice-President, Academic's correspondence with, related to, or copied from Student Services. The Director of Student Services took over most of the VP University Services' functions upon the latter's resignation in 1977. Activities and topics documented in the correspondence include development of student services programs, including health and employment services; an external review of residence and housing in 1979; post-graduation activities of SFU students; and liaison with the Simon Fraser Student Society and the Peak newspaper. Records include correspondence and reports.

Counselling Service

Sub-sub-series consists of records relating to the daily administration of the Counselling Service on campus and includes Dean's correspondence with the Office, brochures and posters produced by Counselling Service, user statistics and surveys, annual reports, and budget and staffing proposals. Records include correspondence, minutes, reports, working papers, financial statements, statistical reports, and publications.

Health Services

Sub-sub-series consists of records relating to the daily administration of Health Services on campus and includes renovations, space, and funding requests; staff positions and salaries; student health insurance proposals; billing statistics; reports including "A Proposal for Provisional Dental Services for Students at SFU," and "Report of the External Review Committee on University Health Services," Health Services brochures and promotional packages for "Health Services Day." Records include correspondence and working papers, reports, financial statements and budgets, and publications.
