The collection consists of copies and a small number of photographs of political cartoons dealing with Canadian and international events that took place from 1759 to 2006. Canadian topics include conscription, immigration, French-language rights, native self-government, imperialism, nationalism, labour conditions, women’s suffrage, and prohibition. The cartoons deal with, among many other topics, the Sino-Japanese War of 1894, the French conquest of Algeria, the Cold War, the war in Vietnam, and World Wars I and II. Publication dates of the newspapers and magazines from which the collection was copied range from 1846 to 2006. Dates of the events covered by the cartoons range from the mid-eighteenth century to 2006.

Records consist of material gathered and created by Rose Marie Trembley at and in the lead-up to Vancouver's Writing in Our Time reading series. Records include newsletters, posters, brochures, minutes, press releases, correspondence, and several photographs of readers and events taken by Rose Marie Tremblay. Writing in Our Time was a reading series organized by the Vancouver Poetry Centre in 1979 to benefit West Coast literary presses, especially Blew Ointment Press. Poets who read at the event include George Bowering, Fred Wah, Frank Davey, Daphne Marlatt, Victor Coleman, Gerry Gilbert, bill bissett, Robert Creeley, Ed Dorn, Ann Waldman, and Michael McClure.

The collection reflects the many aspects of the Canadian Farmworkers Union’s organization and its actions, including unionizing workers and certifying workplaces, advocating for workers’ rights, providing ESL classes and other educational programs, and speaking out on behalf of other workers’ rights and social rights in Canada and around the world. Records include administrative documents, financial records, internal and external correspondence, reference material on a variety of subjects, publications, and numerous photographs of events and activities.

The majority of the material in the collection was created or received by the CFU in the course of its work, but some material, such as the Charan Gill photographs and Craig Berggold book research records, was created by others in relation to the CFU.

This includes annotated envelopes from submitted material, publication agreement forms, correspondence between the contributor and the Collective members, artist and author biographies, self addressed stamped envelopes, artwork reproductions, submitted manuscripts in both electronic and hardcopy format, edited publication proofs, editors’ notes and internal correspondence, and published copies of the completed volumes. The Collective’s activities were conducted in Vancouver, British Columbia although submissions were accepted from women internationally.

Caroline Adderson fonds

The collection consists of materials that relate to Caroline Adderson's work as a writer. Types of materials include: versions of drafts of manuscripts, many with holograph annotations; incoming and outgoing correspondence in the form of handwritten and typewritten letters, and hard copies of email and fax; research relating to her work including collected works by other writers; notes that relate to and inform her literary work; promotional, personal, and research-related photographs; reviews of her work; and a collection of published work in monograph and serial format. These monographs and serials have been catalogued in SFU's Special Collections catalogue. Materials were accessioned in varying states of organization. Much of the material was and remains intermingled, and some had been organized and described by Adderson. Some folders have been written upon by the author, accompanied with explanations of the contents of the corresponding files. In this finding aid, RAD applies consistency to the body of material, but the descriptive contents within the actual folders are not consistent for this reason. All information Adderson has provided about her records has been kept with the appropriate papers.

Collection consists of research material gathered by Johnston for his book "The Voyage of the Komagata Maru: The Sikh Challenge to Canada's Colour Bar" (1979; 1989) and subsequent articles and books about Sikhs in Canada, including (with Tara Singh Bains) "The Four Quarters of the Night: The Life-Journey of an Emigrant Sikh" (1995) and "Jewels of the Qila: The Remarkable Story of an Indo-Canadian Family" (2011). The scrapbooks document the political landscape of British Columbia from 1968 to 1991, in particular the activities of the Social Credit party; events, initiatives, and causes in Vancouver and provincially; state visits; McCarthy's viewpoint on particular issues; her political and charitable activities; leadership campaigns; and her personal and political relationships.
