Production and distribution records

Sub-series contains born-digital records associated with the production and distribution of Adbusters magazine and the Adbusters calendar. These records include lists of distributors and stockists, order tracking tables, invoices, sales forecasts, magazine exchange lists, production schedules, production cost quotes, and contacts between Adbusters and distribution services Disticor and Ebsco.

Subscription records

Sub-series contains born-digital records associated with subscriptions to Adbusters Magazine. These records include magazine subscription insert cards; generic notices for individuals whose subscriptions are set to expire (filed as "sayonara"); resubscription notice mailing schedules; and other subscriber communications such as calls for donation.

Operational notes

Sub-series contains both paper and digital notes created by Adbusters staff members when conducting general operations for the foundation. Paper records include 13 staff notebooks, which detail marketing strategies, design sketches, campaign concepts, draft newsletters, and general notes taken by a minimum of four different individuals employed by Adbusters Media Foundation.

Digital records include volunteer schedules, job descriptions, task lists, to-do lists, external contact lists, meeting notes, a proposed booklet outline, how-to guides, branding plans, digital migration plans, and general notes created by multiple individuals employed by Adbusters Media Foundation.

Social media marketing records

Sub-series contains records related to social media marketing. Physical records include internal Adbusters social media marketing campaign memos. Digital records include three versions of the "Adbusters Social Media Strategy" as well as website analytics.

Culture Shop administrative records

Sub-series contains records related to the administration of the Adbusters Media Foundation Culture Shop, with specific reference to multiple user surveys conducted to determine user engagement with the website. Physical and born-digital records include manuals, user surveys, and survey findings.

General administrative records

Sub-series contains general records related to the administration of Adbusters Media Foundation. Paper records include business cards and envelopes. Born-digital records include scanned incorporation documents, Adbusters logos, Kalle Lasn's author photos and biographical summary, "About Adbusters" blurbs, business cards, letterheads, fax covers, envelop artwork, operation manuals, phone line extension lists, job postings, reference letters, staff schedules, internal media inquiry checklists, election forms, and scanned group photographs of staff from the 1990s.

Born-digital records

Sub-series consists of born-digital records related to the creation of Adbusters-branded merchandise. Records include photographs and digital graphic mockups of stickers, postcards, T-shirts, coffee mugs, baseball cards, flags, packaging, buttons, patches, and a spoof parking ticket.

While there is some overlap, physical merchandise from sub-series F-300-6-1 and born-digital records in this sub-series do not necessarily correlate.

Promotional materials

Sub-series consists of analogue and born-digital records created by Adbusters Media Foundation while promoting Blackspot sneakers and boots. Paper and analogue records include pamphlets, a "Blackspot manifesto," stickers, promotional photographs, and shareholder certificates. Born-digital records include advertisement graphics, promotional photographs, posters, coupons, stickers, gift cards, labels, shareholder certificates, T-shirt mockups, catalogues, promotional comics, and website mockups.

Buy Nothing Day campaign records

Sub-series consists of records created by Adbusters Media Foundation for the Buy Nothing Day advocacy campaign. Buy Nothing Day is an international day of protest against consumerism, coined by artist Ted Dave and promoted by Adbusters. Buy Nothing Day originally took place in September. It was later adjusted to and popularized as taking place on Black Friday, the fourth Friday of November. Buy Nothing Day has been since expanded to Buy Nothing Christmas in order to advocate for buying locally or crafting your own gifts during the holiday season.

Born-digital records include digital graphics, photographs, memes, press releases, moving image "subvertisements," and an audio file of Silent Night recorded in a mall. Paper records include "Buy Nothing Christmas" cards.

Physical merchandise

Sub-series consists of physical merchandise produced and distributed by Adbusters Media Foundation. Records include postcards, stickers, pin-back buttons, fridge magnets, magazine subscription cards, flags, apparel, a coffee mug, a magnetized ceramic cookie, spoof parking tickets, and baseball cards.

Vancouver Art Book Fair records

Sub-series contains records related to Adbusters Media Foundation's participation in the 2018 Vancouver Art Book Fair. Paper records include subscription cards, an internal manual on running an exhibition booth, price lists, and newsletter sign-up sheets. Born-digital records include emails, photographs, digital posters, an internal manual on running an exhibition booth, and a silent auction prize letter.

Eu Zên: Seoul Mediacity Biennale Exhibition records

Sub-series contains records related to Adbusters Media Foundation's participation in the 2018 Seoul Mediacity Biennale Exhibition. Paper records include an exhibition catalogue, where Adbusters Media Foundation is featured on page 195. Born-digital records include a press release, emails, photographs, and a video of Adbusters' exhibit.

Governance Committee

This sub-series consists of records related to the activities of the Governance Committee. This Committee was formed in July 2004 as a result of a final report and recommendations provided by the Governance Working Group. The Governance Committee's responsibilities included regular review of Board Policy 10.01; ensuring effectiveness of the Board Orientation Strategy; monitoring University Governance trends; ensuring effective coordination with Board committees, Senate, and stakeholders; as well as evaluating the Board and making recommendations for improvement. Includes meeting agendas and minutes, terms of reference, recommendations, memos, correspondence, draft Board evaluation forms, reports, and best practice guidelines.

The Audit Committee functioned as a standing committee with the responsibility of recommending the approval of annual financial statements to the Board of Governors. It also received the Audit Report from the Provincial Auditor General, oversaw the Internal Audit Report, and monitored the Annual Insurance and Risk Management Report. Compensation Committee

The Compensation Committee was formed in 1989 for the purposes of determining the annual salaries of senior administrative executives whose positions did not fall under existing agreements or salary administration policies. This included the President, VP Academic, and VP Finance. At the time of formation, the Committee’s membership included: the Board Chair as Chair of the Committee, the Chair of the Administration/Finance Committee, and the Chair of the Employee Relations Committee. The Compensation Committee later became one entity with the Employee Relations Committee. This sub-series contains records related to the formation, evolution, and work of this committee.
