Administration - general records

Sub-series consists of records relating to the administration of TechBC. Activities, events and topics documented include the planning and establishment of the University and its services; the goals, mission and values of the University; its economic mandate; official university committees; and university history. Includes minutes of the Priorities Implementation Group and some records relating to the University Ethics Research Committee and the Knowledge Assets Management Sub-group. Records include correpondence; minutes, terms of reference and supporting papers; reports, position papers, and briefs; legislation; lists; and reference material.

Alberta

This sub-sub-series contains material related to the Alberta’s forest management and forestry industry, specifically including records related to the following companies: Daishowa, Alberta Pacific Forest Industries, Alberta Energy Company, Grand Alberta Pulp Mills, Proctor & Gamble, and Crestbrook Forest Industries. Some records relate to Daishowa-Marubeni International Ltd. corporation dispute with the Lubicon Lake Nation and The Friends of the Lubicon organization. It contains reports, clippings, newsletters, data sheets, correspondence, photographs, maps, posters and corporate records.

Alcohol and Drug Program

Sub-sub-series consists of records relating to the administration of the Alcohol and Drug Program on campus and includes correspondence with members of the university community and external organizations regarding alcohol and drug issues; drug and alcohol information pamphlets; polices and procedures regarding alcohol management on campus; minutes from the Alcohol/Security and Alcohol Policy Committees; security reports regarding alcohol and drug offenses on campus; and Bill Stewart's documents as a member of the Advocacy Committee with the Alcohol-Drug Education Service of Vancouver. Records include correspondence and working papers, agendas and minutes, reports, and publications.

Analytical Studies

Sub-series consists of the Vice-President's correspondence with, related to, or copied from Analytical Studies. Activities documented included provision and analysis of statistical data supporting enrolment, academic and space planning. Records include correspondence, reports and statistics.

Animal Care Facility

Sub-sub-series consists of the Vice-President, Academic's correspondence with, related to, or copied from the Director of the Animal Care Facility (ACF) during the period when ACF reported to the Vice-President, Research. Activities and topics documented include management of facilities, facilities assessment by the Canadian Council of Animal Care, and discussion of particular cases of use of animals in research. Records consist predominantly of correspondence.

Sub-sub-series consists of Granville Island Brewing Company Limited annual reports for the years 1985 to 1988.

Archives

Sub-sub-series consists of the Vice-President, Academic's correspondence with, related to, or copied from the University Archivist during the period when the University Archives reported to the Vice-President, Research. Topics documented include the establishment of the university's Archives Policy, the development of the records management program, and a report on access and privacy issues as they related to archival holdings. Records include correspondence, draft policies and working papers, reports, and records management advisory notes.

Archives

Sub-sub-series consists of the VP Academic's correspondence with, related to, or copied from the University Archivist. Topics include development of the university's Archives policy, and agreement with the Simon Fraser University Faculty Association relating to the faculty status of the University Archivist. Records consists predominantly of correspondence.

Archives / Freedom of Information

Sub-sub-series consists of the Vice-President's correspondence with, related to, or copied from the University Archivist / Information and Privacy Coordinator during the period when the University Archives reported to the Dean of Student Services. The correspondence primarily deals with matters relating to the Archives' administration of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIPP) Act. Activities and topics documented include the processing of individual access to information requests, policy development, access and privacy advice, and the provincial Information and Privacy Commissioner's site visit to SFU in 1997. Records include correspondence, reference material relating to FOIPP, advice, access decision letters, and the submission of the University Presidents' Council (TUPC) to the Special Committee of the BC Legislative Assembly reviewing the FOIPP Act (1998).
