This collection consists of pen and brush drawings based on the flora (fungi, wildflowers, trees) and fauna (butterflies, owls, foxes, birds, and insects) of British Columbia. The representations are from different locations in B.C.: Bridge River, Williams Lake, Manning Park, and Vancouver. Fonds consists of research material, scripts, notebooks, permissions and source footage used by Kovanic in the production of her documentary films. Suspino: A Cry for Roma was released in 2003 and directed by Kovanic and produced by Tamarin Productions. The film uses interviews, a profile of a refugee family, and historical footage in order to trace the experience of persecuted Romani peoples in Eastern Europe, primarily Romania. Other films in the fonds include Our Tears Run Red, Yellow and Green, Baboon Tales and Dreaming a Nation: The Kurds, from 1994.

Collection consists of records created or accumulated by Roger Stonebanks over the course of, and following, his research for the book “Fighting for Dignity: The Ginger Goodwin Story,” published in 2004, as well as for numerous newspaper articles about Goodwin, mining, and labour history in British Columbia. Records include interview notes, correspondence, photographs and other graphic material, audio cassette tapes containing interview recordings and radio broadcasts, research records from various sources, and Stonebanks’ notes about sources consulted. Research records are primarily reproductions from sources such as museums and archives, and include records such as birth, death and marriage certificates, photographs, and newspaper articles. Some records date past 2004, after the publication of Stonebanks’ books, and thus were not used as research sources. The collection also contains various articles reviewing and publicizing Stonebanks’ book.

Collection has been arranged into the following four series: Correspondence (1985-2004); Subject files (1908-2011); General clippings and publicity (1990-2010); and Photographs (1909-2004).

Fonds consists of 89 scrapbooks relating to Grace McCarthy and her career as a politician within the British Columbia Social Credit party. Scrapbooks contain photographs, correspondence, newspaper clippings, magazine articles, press releases, ephemera, and other material dating from 1960 to 1991.

The scrapbooks document the political landscape of British Columbia from 1968 to 1991, in particular the activities of the Social Credit party; events, initiatives, and causes in Vancouver and provincially; state visits; McCarthy's viewpoint on particular issues; her political and charitable activities; leadership campaigns; and her personal and political relationships. They also document McCarthy's most notable accomplishments, including bringing Expo '86 to Vancouver, establishing SkyTrain as a rapid transit system, driving the construction of the Vancouver Trade and Convention Centre, and the lighting of the Lions Gate Bridge. Includes correspondence with other politicians at the provincial, national and international level, including W.A.C. Bennett and Margaret Thatcher; her constituents, residents of British Columbia, and party members; and the business community.

The fonds consists of textual records and other media created by Harry and Valerie Jerome, which reflect the various facets of Harry Jerome’s life, including academics, athletics, and community/national sports initiatives. While most of the records reflect Harry’s life, the fonds also includes records that pertain to Valerie Jerome’s life, namely her athletic and political career. In addition, a biographical manuscript, which is Valerie Jerome’s written iteration of the story of the Jerome family and Harry’s life, is included in the fonds. The fonds also includes records that were created by the Harry Jerome Commemorative Society and the Black Business and Professional Association’s Harry Jerome Awards. Additionally, the newspaper clipping series includes a file featuring Valerie Jerome’s son and Harry Jerome’s nephew, Stuart Parker, and his political endeavors with the British Columbia Green Party. Collection consists of research material gathered by Johnston for his book "The Voyage of the Komagata Maru: The Sikh Challenge to Canada's Colour Bar" (1979; 1989) and subsequent articles and books about Sikhs in Canada, including (with Tara Singh Bains) "The Four Quarters of the Night: The Life-Journey of an Emigrant Sikh" (1995) and "Jewels of the Qila: The Remarkable Story of an Indo-Canadian Family" (2011). Records in the collection are primarily of photocopied and microfilmed material from archival material held by institutions, newspapers and journals, and notes and drafts.

Journalist Peter Stursberg interviewed Hugh Keenleyside as part of an oral history project for the Parliamentary Library and the National Archives of Canada. Dr. Keenleyside was a former chair of the B.C. Power Commission and played an important role in the development of hydroelectric power in B.C.

The collection consists of three files containing the complete transcripts of two interviews.

The fonds consists of materials generated by the operations of the Indigenous Media Arts Group (IMAG), including administrative and financial records, publications, correspondence, meeting minutes, staff and business contact lists, volunteer coordination records, IMAG’s internal forms, resumes, staff and student information. The fonds includes records relating to funding, promoting and coordinating various Indigenous arts development programs, including grant applications, sponsorship agreement, activity reporting, teaching materials, correspondence, festival schedules and guides, publicity materials, press clippings and festival advertisement. In addition, there is a small collection of textbooks on film making. The fonds also contains records specific to the IMAGeNation film festival, including films submitted for the festival, and films created by IMAG staff and students. The fonds contains festival posters and photographs from festivals and other events.

Indigenous Media Arts Group

Indo-Canadian collection

From 1979-1981 the University Archives collected historical information on the Indo-Canadian Community in British Columbia with a view towards acquiring records in this area. The Archives prepared a bibliography, and made copies of relevant material. According to Professor Hugh Johnston, the collection contains a fairly complete set of all articles written up to 1980 about Indo-Canadians in BC. The Archives also acquired some photographs from the community. Since the conclusion of the project, the Archives has shifted its primary acquisition focus away from ethnic collections.

Collection consists of photocopied magazine articles, theses, books, reports, newspaper clippings and other secondary sources about Indo-Canadians. The information is primarily about the Sikh community, but there is also some material on Hindu immigrants. There is one file of photographic prints and negatives.

Collection also contains one file of correspondence with Ray Hundle, who corresponded with the University Archives regarding his research on the possible establishment of a Sikh temple in Golden, BC in 1880.

Material is in Punjabi and English.
