Academic research and writings

Sub-series contains research and project files for Derek Beaulieu’s MA thesis on the TISH poets, and annotated drafts of his PhD dissertation on concrete poetry and conceptual writing.

Sub-series consists of one photograph album and loose photographic prints and slides of Beaulieu’s artworks, installations and related events.

Publicity records and reviews

Sub-series contains records relating to reviews and publicity records for various books written by James Delgado, as well as some records relating to Delgado's reviews of the work of others. Records include correspondence (primarily with publishers), newspaper clippings, web page printouts, newsletters, and journals.

Administrative records

Sub-series consists of correspondence, contracts and notes regarding Marlatt's university job applications and the administrative aspects of her faculty appointments.

Clayoquot Sound

This sub-series contains records related to land use, resource management and protection of rainforest of Clayoquot Sound area on Vancouver Island. The records document interaction of Valhalla Society, agencies of the provincial government of BC, CORE, Nuu-chah-nulth Tribe, The Friends of Clayoquot Sound group and other involved groups.

The counting house records

Sub-series consists of a manuscript for "The Counting House," an unpublished book based on Trower’s experiences at Oakalla Prison in the 1960s.

Taiga Rescue Network

This sub-series contains records related to the Taiga Rescue Network, an international organization formed with the help of Colleen McCrory, aimed to protect boreal forest across the world. The sub-series documents international campaign to preserve boreal and rainforest around the world. It contains records related to formation of the organization, its mandate, and its membership. This sub-series contains material related to the Canada’s Future Forest Alliance.

Correspondence

This sub-series contains general correspondence with various groups and individuals as well as accompanying records. The sub-series includes correspondence with various international environmental groups.

Incoming correspondence

Sub-series consists of James Delgado's incoming correspondence, primarily relating to his professional activities. Records span Delgado's time working with the National Park Service, the National Maritime Initiative, the Vancouver Maritime Museum, and the Institute of Nautical Archaeology, and relate to administrative matters at these institutions, as well as events he attended and projects he worked on. Correspondence relating to shipwreck and historic site projects includes expedition reports, itineraries, and research records. Correspondence relating to Delgado's writing projects focuses on the publication of books and articles, and includes some copies of articles written by Delgado, advertisements for his books, and book reviews. Sub-series also contains some correspondence relating to the television program "The Sea Hunters." Records include letters, email and fax printouts, and greeting cards, as well as attachments and related records such as newsletters, certificates, newspaper clippings, and magazine articles.

Green book

This sub-series consists of a compiled book containing correspondence, court documents, memos, and news items on the subject of two legal actions that took place in 1990 and 1991 as a result of the outcome of a challenge nomination meeting in Burnaby Edmonds riding. It is unique for historical purposed as it will give a detailed view of the circumstances and outcome of a rare and unusual political situation. Specifically, while there have been judicial recounts of election results in the past, court decisions on nomination meeting outcomes are very rare.

Cereus Blooms at Night

Sub-series consists of drafts and manuscripts for the novel published as Cereus Blooms at Night in 1996.

Out on Main Street

Sub-series consists of draft short stories and drafts of the collection of short stories published as Out on Main Street in 1993. A small amount of correspondence dates to 1998.

Article drafts

Sub-series contains several unpublished drafts of articles written by Delgado relating to historical events such as the Cuban Missile Crisis and the September 11, 2001 attack.

The Predicament of Or

Sub-series consists of loose drafts of poems and drafts of the collection of poetry published as The Predicament of Or. The sub-series also includes a small amount of correspondence relating to the collection.

Membership

This sub-series consists of various lists of Doukhobor people belonging to organizations existing within the Doukhobor community, such as the CCBRD and the Sons of Freedom. These documents were either compiled by the representatives of these Doukhobor organizations or by the Canadian government officials. Some list provide details of residence, age, timeline of arrival in Canada, community leadership, and community blacklist.

Kootenay Boundary Land Use

This sub-series contains records related to work of the Commission on Resources and Environment (CORE) with a mandate to develop strategy for land use and resource management across the province with focus on specific regions and with the protection of forest ecosystems and watershed in mind. The formation of CORE was influenced by the high public profile of the Endangered Wilderness campaign created by Valhalla. That campaign highlighted the speed of wilderness areas loss in the province and the need for protection and creation of parks. This sub-series documents CORE work on Kootenay-Boundary region land use plans and the opposition to CORE recommendations by some groups. It includes reports and recommendations as well as correspondence of the CORE representative with Valhalla Society and other involved groups. This sub-series also contains Kootenay-Boundary Land Use Plan documentation and implementation strategies prepared by the Kootenay Inter-Agency Management Committee.

Correspondence

File consists of correspondence, both incoming and outgoing, between members of the Kiss and Tell artist collective and others. Correspondence relates primarily to the “Drawing the Line” exhibition in Sidney, Australia, the publication of the book “Drawing the Line: Lesbian Sexual Politics on the Wall,” and responses to the show and book.
