Photographs

This sub-series is comprised of Ajaib’s photographs taken during his military career. Included are numerous shots of various airplanes and the base at Fort Caron, Saskatchewan, where he was stationed.

Meeting minutes

Sub-series comprises minutes of meetings of the BCHPA, including Central Executive, annual general meetings and semi-annual meetings. Some files from the 1990s and 2000s also include inward and outward Executive correspondence on meetings and topical issues, as well as "Executive Doings," a circular sent to Divisions and affiliates. Records consist of minutes, resolutions, programs, correspondence, reports, and meeting support papers.

Chronological correspondence

Subseries consists of correspondence arranged chronologically. Subseries includes incoming letters and copies of outgoing letters.

Social Work

Subseries consists of a single file on social work. The file contains miscellaneous articles, reports and correspondence with various institutions, such as the Department of Social Work at the University of British Columbia and the Vancouver Council on Social Agencies.

Non-fiction works records

Sub-series consists of research, correspondence, publicity, contracts, royalty statements, photographs and other material relating to Shackleton’s published works of non-fiction. Sub-series is arranged into the following sub-sub-series: “Ask No Quarter: A Biography of Agnes Macphail” (1956-1995); “High Button Bootstraps: Women’s Teachers’ Federation of Ontario” (1964-1975); “Tommy Douglas” (1943-1999); “Powertown: Democracy Discarded” (1973-1986); and “Ishbel and the Empire: A Biography of Lady Aberdeen” (1973-1998).

Subject files

Subseries consists of records compiled by Smythe to support his research interests. Subseries includes lecture notes, addresses, photocopied monographs, notes, reports, and other materials. Records are organized into subject based files, including topics such as postal service, fax technology, the radio and television industries, newspapers and printing, media regulation, the peace movement, and other subjects.

Ladies Auxiliary records

Sub-series consists of records relating to the membership and activities of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Glengarry Camp. Records include minute books documenting Auxiliary meetings (1945-1967), and a membership dues book (1959-1970).

Photographs

This sub-series is primarily comprised of family photographs contained in a photo album, along with some loose images from later years.

Directories

Sub-series consists of directories listing information about District No. 16 and all of the camps in the District. Directories include contact information for district, camp and also Grand Camp officers; meeting places and times; dates that camps were instituted; and a list of camp events. Includes directories for 1946, 1948, 1950 to 1962, and 1964-1991.

Textual records

This sub-series is currently contains one of Ajaib’s East India Carpets business cards.

Gangsterquest records

Sub-series consists of records relating to Peter Trower and Yvonne Klan’s unpublished book project "Gangsterquest: The Search for the King of Safecrackers." An account of the life of Herbert Emerson Wilson (aka Herb Wilson), the project was originally titled "Holy Herb." Records include notes, research records, chapter and screenplay outlines, and edited and unedited draft manuscripts.

Finances

Subseries consists of files on various financial matters, such as revenue, including briefs submitted by the Society to government agencies in support of requests for financial aid; banking, including lists of signing officers; and budgets, including correspondence with Community Chest and Council Budget Committee.

British Columbia - newsletters

Sub-series comprises newsletters issued by the Apiary branch of the BC Department of Agriculture and later the BC Ministry of Agriculture. Records include Bee-Wise: Timely Hints on Beekeeping, the Apiary Branch Newsletter, and the Apiculture Newsletter.

USCC general records

This sub-series consists of the various records relating to the USCC and its executive members and their relationship with members of the Doukhobor community and Doukhobor and other organizations. This sub-series contains records related to trips that the USCC executive members took as representative of the USCC, including trips to Russia and relationship of with Russian Government in early 1990 and 2000s and joint cultural projects, such as restaurant at Tolstoy's estate. It also includes records related to the Doukhobor community, youth and sport organizations, history of Doukhobor leadership and other records.

Alphabetical correspondence

Sub-series consists of incoming and outgoing correspondence between Blaser and family, friends, and colleagues. Material includes handwritten and typed correspondence, as well as facsimile correspondence. Additional material includes sketches, newspaper clippings, pamphlets, and other textual material sent to Blaser.

Event records

This sub-series consists of pamphlets, correspondence, reports, booklets, programs, newspaper special editions and supplements, and calendars that document various event celebrated by the Doukhobor communities as well as the Doukhobor history and culture.

Sound recordings

Subseries consists of three commercial phonograph recordings (Folkways Records) relating to Ida Halpern's research into the music of the Pacific Northwest Indians. Also includes one phonograph recording, "Music I Like," by Ida Halpern, made from a CBC broadcast, October 16, 1949, and an interview with Ida Halpern (undated).

Education records

Sub-series consists of records relating to Iris Garland’s studies from elementary school through to post secondary education and extracurricular activities. Records include certificates, photographs, course notes, and graded assignments and exams.

Research for publications

Subseries consists of records produced and compiled by Smythe in preparation for his various publications. Subseries includes lecture notes, drafts, correspondence, reference material, and other records. Included are research materials for Smythe's articles on China, his book Dependency Road, and his unfinished book on a theory of communications.

Personal

This sub-series contains June's incoming correspondence from family and friends. Some of the correspondence is addressed to June's children or both her and her husband Fred.

Cartoons and other artwork by Peter Trower

Sub-series consists of cartoons, sketch books, drawings and paintings by Peter Trower, including material produced by Trower during his time as a student at the Vancouver School of Art, 1958 to 1959. Includes watercolours, ink, pencil, charcoal and pastel drawings. Cartoons pertain to the logging and aluminum industry, international politics, local politics and issues, the hippie movement, and super-hero spoofs. The subject matter of the drawings and sketches include Peter Trower (self-portraits), family members, friends, models, logging, Trower’s homes in North Vancouver and Gibsons, British Columbia, and in various places in Vancouver, Gibsons, and Port Alice. Series also includes three copies of Jack Wise’s only know cartoon.

Education records

Sub-series consists of personal records made and/or received by Hari Sharma during his training at the Delhi School of Social Work and at Case Western Reserve University. Includes records he kept while conducting field work in India and the US. Sub-series includes notes, articles, publications, and notebooks.

Projects and activities files

Sub-series comprises records relating to projects and activities undertaken by the BCHPA according to its mandate and functions. Activities documented include the work of the Bee Forage Committee and the Education Committee; participation in educational programs, including the Malaspina College Apiculture program and a Tracheal Mite seminar; reports to the provincial Minister; promotions and exhibits, including participation in the Granville Island Public Market; production of a honey cookbook; advocacy and projects in formal and informal partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture, including the BC Honeybee Stock Improvement Project and revisions to the Bee Act; and the early exploration of the possibility of commercial production of mead in BC. Records include correspondence, briefs and reports, drafts, minutes, brochures, and course-related material.

Arson related documents

This sub-series documents the Sons of Freedom involvement in arson and bombing, including of the burning of J. J. Verigin’s house in Brilliant, BC. The sub-series consists of witness statements, articles and newspaper clippings. This sub-series includes printed, mimeographed and handwritten documents in Russian and/or English. Some are original documents and some are photocopies. In some cases, Russian handwritten document is supplied with a Russian and English version mimeograph.
