Organizational and administrative files

Series consists of materials related to the composition and activities of the Women in View festival board of directors and festival staff members. Records include correspondence, reports, meeting minutes, procedures, and photographs.

Publications

Series consists of publications of Mootoo's poetic and prose works.

Photographs

Series consists mainly of photographs taken by the author or relating to her work.

Artistic works

Series consists of records relating specifically to Mootoo’s visual artworks and video productions, as well as some audio recordings that were broadcast on radio.

Notebooks and early writings

Series consists of early writings, mainly composed during Mootoo’s school days, as well as various notebooks kept by the author over subsequent years.

Interviews

Series consists of transcripts of interviews conducted with Mootoo about her life and work.
Related material may be found in the Audio-visual material sub-series, which contains recordings of interviews with Mootoo. Dates suggest, however, that they do not correspond to the transcripts in this series.

Book reviews and announcements

Series consists of various published reviews, catalogues and announcements related to Mootoo’s artistic and literary works, collected and maintained by the author.

Correspondence

Series consists of correspondence sent and received by Mootoo. Records include cards and letters sent by friends and admirers, printed emails exchanged between Mootoo and her agent and publishers, and other professional and personal correspondence.

Literary works

Series consists of manuscripts, typescript drafts and working papers for Mootoo’s literary compositions, including novels, short stories, poetry, and lectures and talks delivered on various occasions.

Audio-visual records

This series contains audio and video recordings of provincial and party leadership campaign events. The recordings contain speeches, addresses, presentations, recordings of convention activities, campaign tutorials, newscasts, and campaign songs.
This series is divided into two sub-series: 1. Audio recordings; 2. Video recordings.

Buttons

This series contains campaign and commemorative ca. 84 buttons and 2 small metal plaques used in various campaigns of the BC Social Credit Party between years 1974-1996. The buttons cover the subject areas of candidates, elections, government initiatives and programmes, leaderships, party events and protests.

Newspaper articles and party newsletters

This sub-series contains entire issues of party newsletters covering period between 1954 and 2005 and newspaper clippings covering 1988-1991. The clippings were originally cut from local newspapers, principally The Province and The Sun. The news clippings are from period of 1988 to 1991 and reflect very challenging times that BC Social Credit and the BC Social Credit Government Caucus was experiencing at that time.

Photographs

This series contains print and negative photographs depicting various events and meetings organized by The Social Credit Party during provincial election and by-election campaigns, party leadership conventions, conferences and annual general meetings. It also includes images of party wide events as well as events specific to single constituency offices, including: Burnaby-Edmonds, Burnaby-Willingdon, Richmond, Vancouver-East, Coquitlam, Chilliwack, Abbotsford, and Cariboo. This also includes images of many events organized by BC Young Socreds.

Government publications

This series contains booklets published by the BC government: The Statement of Votes (various election dates) and Election Act (1982) The Statement of Votes booklets were issued after each provincial election and contain detailed poll by poll results and poll map for each constituency. These booklets were analyzed during the course of campaign development to examine where the previous election candidate had lost and won. Based on this statistical data, maps and plans were made for tactical ground operation of the next campaign. These maps were used principally in management of canvass and election day operations. The Election Act booklet were also kept for reference purposes during the election campaigns.

General documents

This series contains records related to the BC Social Credit Party internal administration, party leadership, and organization of provincial campaigns. In addition, the records relate to the campaigns in specific constituencies and administration of BC Young Socreds. The records include: campaign and membership promotional material, clippings, correspondence, memos, minutes, notes, executive members, membership lists, constitution and by-laws, resolutions, reports, constituency handbook, policies, resolutions, articles, conference and convention materials, data sheets, ballots, party newsletters, posters and photographs.

This series is arranged into four sub-series: 1. Year files; 2. Leadership; 3. Party offices; 4. BC Young Socred.

Assembled books

This series contains assembled books containing various documents and created to organize records in chronological manner and assembled books created as manuals for specific functional purposes, such like educating candidates, party officials and volunteers on the Social Credit Party policies and campaigning strategies. These records provide insight into BC Social Credit Party history, organizational structure and membership, evolving priorities and campaigning.

This series is organized into eight sub-series: 1. Year books; 2. Clippings, ephemera books; 3. Campaign manuals; 4. Constituency profiles; 5. Policy information books; 6. Press information books; 7. Know your series; 8. Reports; 8. Green book.

Programming and project records

Series consists of records relating to programs for farmworkers run by the Canadian Farmworkers Union, as well as external programs participated in by the union or its administrators, and various union projects. Records include ESL program planning and teaching materials, farmworker safety educational material, and documentary films and exhibits.

The series is arranged into four sub-series: English as a Second Language (ESL) training materials and photographs ([1965]-1987); General programming correspondence, photographs, and educational material ([198-]-1998); Project files and photographs ([1979]-Printed 2013 (originally created 1986)); and Meeting minutes, correspondence, photographs, and other records relating to collaboration with other organizations ([198--ca. 1997]).

Administrative records

Series consists of records relating to the administration of the Canadian Farmworkers Union, including financial records, meeting agendas and minutes, correspondence, membership information, publications, and photographs of events.

The series is arranged into nine sub-series: Minutes and executive reports (1978-1994); Account books and other financial records (1980-1997); Fundraising correspondence, photographs, and other records (1978-1997); Membership surveys, photographs, and other records ([1979-ca. 1999]); Publications, publicity records, and ephemera (1975-2010); Correspondence (1978-1998); Convention and meeting minutes, photographs, and other records (1979-1995); Reports (1974-1997); and General administrative records ([1975]-1996).

Event photographs

Series consists of photographs of Canadian Farmworkers Union staff and numerous social and cultural events held by the union, including bhangra performances as well as visits by United Farmworkers of America President Cesar Chavez and the Manitoba Farm Workers Association.

Union action records

Series consists of correspondence, legal records, photographs, and other material relating to the Canadian Farmworkers Union’s promotion and certification of the union in individual work sites; negotiations with farm owners; individual workers’ complaints; strikes; and participation in rallies for a variety of causes.

The series is arranged into four sub-series: Unionization and organizing notes, photographs, and other records ([198-]-1985); Certification correspondence, contracts, and photographs (1980-1992); Photographs, legal records, and correspondence relating to complaints, strikes, and rallies (1979-[199-?]); and General planning and research newspaper clippings, notes, and photographs ([1978]-1997).

Research and advocacy records

Series consists of research material relating to a number of issues the Canadian Farmworkers Union investigated in order to provide information to workers, provide support to other groups, and publicly advocate for awareness and change. Subjects include the regulation and safe handling of pesticides, workers’ rights and occupational safety legislation, and general labour and minority rights. Records include newspaper clippings, journal articles, publicity materials, photographs of workers and events, awareness and event posters, worker housing blueprints, bumper stickers, and other ephemera.

The series is arranged into four sub-series: Pesticides subject files and photographs (1979-1994); Occupational health and safety subject files and photographs ([197-]-2011); Labour and rights movements subject files (1979-1998); and General subject files (1979-1993).

Deol Society records

Series consists of records relating to the administration and activities of the Deol Agricultural Education and Research Society (the Deol Society), including financial records, meeting minutes, correspondence, project records, newsletters, and other publications.

The series is arranged into five sub-series: Administrative records and correspondence (1982-1995); Financial records (1981-1998); Programming and project reports, correspondence, and photographs ([198--ca. 1997]); Employment and grant records (1977-1990); and Publications (1982-1995).

Charan Gill photographs

Series consists of photographs relating to Charan Gill’s run for political office with the BC New Democratic Party (NDP), independent of his work with the Canadian Farmworkers Union. These photographs were received with the CFU material and included in the collection due to Charan Gill’s involvement with the CFU from founding through the transfer of administration of the union to the Progressive Intercultural Community Services Society (PICS).

Photographs

The series contains photographs of various GATE activities. The series includes some personal photographs of Roedy Green, who was a founding member of GATE.
