Sub-series consists of records relating to federal granting agencies, the funding of SFU research chairs, and research grants awarded to SFU faculty. Records include correspondence, proposals, applications, letters of award, agreements, lists of award recipients, news releases, and printed reference material circulated by the granting agencies.

International educational agreements with SFU

Series consists of records relating to the university's agreements with international educational bodies and universities. Activities and topics documented include a proposal (never actualized) to establish an SFU branch campus in Japan (1992); a summer school program in Cuba in collaboration with the University of Havana; academic exchange programs with the Institute universitarie professionalisé (France), the Kyushu Institute of Technology and other institutions in Japan, the University of Dundee (Scotland), and several universities in Chile; the activities of the SFU China Steering Committee and a campaign to establish a major degree program at SFU in Chinese studies (1992). Records include correspondence, proposals, agreements, itineraries, and a student petition relating to Chinese Studies at SFU.

The fonds consists of records made or received by the Office of the Vice-President, Academic in the course of its activities. Activities documented include development of university policies and procedures; supervision of units reporting to the VPA; budget planning and allocation; participation in university committees; liaison with internal and external bodies, including SFU faculties and departments, employee associations and unions, government bodies, other universities, and external associations; space management, allocation, and planning; and speeches and engagements undertaken as a representative of SFU.
