Textual records

This series consists of mainly correspondence and transcripts of interviews. Also included is a project proposal to continue the film-making process of a project that was interrupted by the death of Jon Gates in 1992.

Business proposals

Series is comprised of requests for proposals, correspondence and proposals for bookstores in the following locations: Vancouver Airport, BC Ferries, Open Learning Agency's Knowledge bookstore and the Vancouver Writers Festival.

Book reviews and announcements

Series consists of various published reviews, catalogues and announcements related to Mootoo’s artistic and literary works, collected and maintained by the author.

Records related to public speaking engagements

Due to the success of his broadcasting and writing careers, as well as his involvement with charitable organizations and service as a Senator, LaPierre was often called upon to speak at or chair events. This series, primarily correspondence, is comprised of records related to these engagements.

IMAG administrative records

Series consists of documents related to the day-to-day administration of IMAG, including by-laws, contracts, board meeting agendas and minutes, correspondence, budgets, insurance policies, financial statements, audited financial statements, grant applications, pamphlets, posters, brochures, advertising ephemera, newspaper clippings, and other documents.

Writings

Series consists of records generated from Beaulieu’s work as an author, editor, academic and teacher. Records include research, correspondence, contracts, proofs at various stages of production, drafts, transcriptions and publications. Series is arranged into the following sub-series: Poetry and book files (1996–2014); Article files (1998–[before 2015]); Academic research and writings (1991–2014); Writings by students (2008–2015); Writings by others (2005–2013) and Handmade books ([before 2009]).

Video recordings

This series consists of multiple video cassettes in various formats, as well as 2 DVD’s. Some of the same recordings – especially speeches and produced content - exist across multiple formats.

Awards, events and reviews

This series was originally titled "Miscellaneous records". The title was changed and the contents slightly rearranged for better intellectual access. It consists of photocopies of Eden Robinson's university degress, as well as awards, prize information, publicity and newspaper clippings of reviews.

Business operational files and related records

Series consists of correspondence with professional organizations, governmental departments or ministries, and service providers dealt with in the course of normal business. Records include: internal communications, external correspondence, reports, grant applications and awards, contracts, minutes, notes, trade publications, contracts, memorandum, and invoices.

Mail orders

Series is comprised of correspondence, notes, inventories and personal mail orders for books fulfilled by Duthie Books’ warehouse. Records document Duthie's book searches, orders from individuals, and shipments of books to customers from across British Columbia and countries around the world.

Publications

Series consists of publications of Mootoo's poetic and prose works.

Editorial work

Series consists of magazines and art catalogues in which Robertson was editor or co-editor.

General clippings and publicity

Series consists of articles relating to Ginger Goodwin’s life and legacy as well as articles reviewing and publicizing Stonebanks’ book. Most of the information contained in these clippings is very general and thus would not have provided much research help to Stonebanks, and, indeed, many of the articles were accumulated after the publication of Stonebanks’ book.

Organization and administration files

Series consists of records relating to the internal organization of Mother Tongue Press. Activities, events and topics documented include workshops, book launches, and paper and other printing equipment suppliers. Records include correspondence, photographs, flyers, agreements, and a notebook.

Videocassettes

Series consists of video recordings including copies of Duke’s cinematic productions, interviews and award presentations.

Out our way

Series consists of sound recordings of interviews undertaken by Michael Riordon for Out Our Way: Gay and Lesbian Life in the Country (Between the Lines, 1996). Interviews were undertaken across Canada. Textual records consist of a copy of Riordon’s log and notes about the tapes and interviews.

Herspectives records

Series consists of records relating to Herspectives, the journal Billy edited. Records include correspondence, an index, letter of intent, calendars and the master copy for each issue.

Photographs

Series consists of photographs, slides, negatives and contact sheets that depict performers, performances, staff, and audiences.

Records related to work with charities and organizations

Laurier LaPierre invested significant time contributing to various charities and organizations throughout his life. This series is comprised of records, primarily correspondence and reports, relating to is work with these entities. Some of these activities took place during his service as Senator, so related records can be found in Series 4: Records related to term in Senate and Series 6: Records related to public speaking engagements.

Stamps and related records

Series consists of AIDS-themed single stamps, mint blocks, mint full sheets, slogan cancels, first day covers, comic books and related records collected by Blair Henshaw. Henshaw’s collection represents philatelic materials issued by 84 different jurisdictions.

Drawing the line records

Series consists of records created and accumulated by the Kiss and Tell collective during the production, exhibition, and promotion of the photographic exhibition “Drawing the Line” and the book “Drawing the Line: Lesbian Sexual Politics on the Wall.” Records include photographs, correspondence, exhibition specifications and guidelines, promotional and press materials, and articles. Photographs include not only those 98 images ultimately selected for use the “Drawing the Line” exhibition, but also many more photographs taken by Stewart in the process of creating the artwork, as well as photographs of the exhibition itself.

Works by others

Series consists of drafts, typescripts, page proofs, manuscripts and broadsides written by friends, colleagues, students, and others; some annotated. Includes correspondence.

Articles

Series consists of photocopies of six published articles and one final draft of an essay, on the subject of Sikhs in Canada and the Komagata Maru, written by Hugh Johnston.

Individual files

Files consist of notes from an interview with Nanad Kaur Johl, as well as correspondence and photographs relating to "The Four Quarters of the Night: The Life-Journey of an Emigrant Sikh" and Johnston's article on Tara Singh Bains.

Vancouver Awards Show

Series consists mainly of textual material pertaining to Duke's involvement in organizing and scripting the Vancouver Awards Show. This series includes business correspondence, personal notes, draft scripts, publicity and information regarding Duke's contributions to the show’s production.

Video and audio tapes

Series contains recordings submitted as part of the festival adjudication process. Series also contains recordings of Women in View events and publicity.

Publication files

Series consists of records relating to Duthie Books’ publishing activities, including their book review periodical “The Reader,” “The New Reader,” as well as catalogues, guides and various staff, customer and employee newsletters. Series is divided into three sub-series: Original reader files (1986-1995); New Reader files (1996-1999); and Catalogue and newsletter files ([198-]-1999).
