Ezra Pound collection

The collection consists of correspondence written by Ezra Pound while in St. Elizabeth's Hospital to Denis Goacher, a British writer, concerning publishing projects and publicity schemes to secure Pound's release (1952-1957), to Pound's long-time friends Wyndham Lewis and Agnes Bedford (1946-1959), and to Willis Hawley, a sinologist, concerning linguistic and technical details involved with the publication of "Confucius: The Great Digest and Unwobbling Pivot" (1951). Some of the correspondence to Hawley was written by Dorothy Pound and James Laughlin.

Kate Braid fonds

Fonds consists of records relating to Braid's life and work as a student, teacher, carpenter, and writer.

The first five series from Braid's first donation in 1995 are comprised primarily of interview material relating to Canadian women in trades, in the form of sound recordings, transcripts, notes, and drafts of profiles generated by Kate Braid in the course of four projects: her Master's thesis (1978-1979); a convention in Holland and subsequent trip to Denmark (1984); the Labour Canada booklets (1988); and the CBC Ideas program (1990). Also includes some correspondence, logbooks and published reference material.

The next series from several additional accruals in 2009 to 2013 consist of records arising from many aspects of Braid's life. These records include drafts and notes from Braid's writing, projects for CBC Ideas, women in trades, her company, Sisters Construction, and other writing and teaching projects.

There is also a large series of correspondence, including letters and emails (printed out) between Braid and other writers, her family, and business correspondents. Finally, there is a series of Braid's diaries, which she has kept regularly from the 1960s to 2012.

Fonds consists of 88 scrapbooks relating to Grace McCarthy and her career as a politician within the British Columbia Social Credit party. Scrapbooks contain photographs, correspondence, newspaper clippings, magazine articles, press releases, ephemera, and other material dating from 1960 to 1991.

The scrapbooks document the political landscape of British Columbia from 1968 to 1991, in particular the activities of the Social Credit party; events, initiatives, and causes in Vancouver and provincially; state visits; McCarthy's viewpoint on particular issues; her political and charitable activities; leadership campaigns; and her personal and political relationships. They also document McCarthy's most notable accomplishments, including bringing Expo '86 to Vancouver, establishing SkyTrain as a rapid transit system, driving the construction of the Vancouver Trade and Convention Centre, and the lighting of the Lions Gate Bridge. Includes correspondence with other politicians at the provincial, national and international level, including W.A.C. Bennett and Margaret Thatcher; her constituents, residents of British Columbia, and party members; and the business community.

Fonds consists of 22 sketchbooks (featuring watercolours, pen and ink drawings, pastel and charcoal sketches, travel diary entries) measuring approximately 8 x 10" to 10.5 x 14". These sketchbooks document Rose Malerby's travels to Prince Rupert via ferry and from there to the Yukon with friends in a Volkswagon bus. Malerby captured landscapes, townscapes, harbour scenes, flora, people, architecture and artifacts, and noted weather conditions, gas costs, where they stopped to eat and places they stayed along the way.

Fonds consists of research material, scripts, notebooks, permissions and source footage used by Kovanic in the production of her documentary films. Suspino: A Cry for Roma was released in 2003 and directed by Kovanic and produced by Tamarin Productions. The film uses interviews, a profile of a refugee family, and historical footage in order to trace the experience of persecuted Romani peoples in Eastern Europe, primarily Romania. Other films in the fonds include Our Tears Run Red, Yellow and Green, Baboon Tales and Dreaming a Nation: The Kurds, from 1994.

The original responsibilities of the department included building the physical plant of the University, maintaining buildings and grounds, and providing support services such as food, traffic control, and security. Later, its functions were narrowed to the construction and maintenance of the physical plant and grounds.

The activities documented include policy and procedures development; the planning, construction and maintenance of the University's physical plant and grounds, including land acquisition and liaison with outside consultants and bodies; and the planning and delivery of services to the University, including water and power, traffic, security, fire prevention, purchasing, bookstore operations, central stores, mail, and food.
