Biographical history
Eden Robinson, a member of the Haisla and Heiltsuk First Nations, was born in 1968 on the Haisla Nation Kitimat Reserve in B.C. She grew up in the village of Kitamaat in Northern B.C. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Creative Writing from the University of Victoria and completed a graduate degree in Creative Writing at the University of British Columbia in 1995. Her first book, Traplines, won the Winifred Holtby Prize and was a New York Times Editor's Choice and Notable Book of the Year. Her debut novel, Monkey Beach, was shortlisted for the Governor General's Award and the Giller Prize, and received the 2001 Ethel Wilson Fiction Prize. It was also selected as a New York Times Notable Book of the Year; The Globe and Mail's "Best 100 Books" and the 2000 Globe and Mail Editor's Choice. Monkey Beach was followed by another book, Blood Sports (2006). In 2017 Robinson was shortlisted for the Scotiabank Giller Prize for her book Son of a Trickster (2017).
Custodial history
Records were in the custody of Eden Robinson prior to their acquisition by Simon Fraser University Library Special Collections and Rare Books in 2007.
An accrual of records was received from Eden Robinson in 2018.
Scope and content
The fonds consists of records primarily reflecting Robinson’s career as a writer, spanning approximately from 1991 to 2018. These include drafts of several of her novels including "Monkey Beach", "Traplines", "Blood Sports", "Son of a Trickster" and "Trickster Drift", correspondence with editors and other miscellaneous records. The fonds is arranged into seven series: Correspondence (1993-2005); Awards, events and reviews (1991-2007); Records relating to "Traplines" ([1997]); Records relating to "Blood Sports" (2004-2005); Records relating to "Monkey Beach" ([ca. 2000?]); Records relating to "Son of a Trickster" (2016-2017); and Records relating to "Trickster Drift" (2014-2018).

This fonds was originally arranged and described in 2009 by W. Wang. When an additional donation of records was made in 2018 slight adjustments were made to the arrangement. Nothing was removed from the original order, although some records were removed from a file and labelled separately to facilitate access.
