Terms governing use, reproduction, and publication
Photographic indices and file lists are available. Most but not all photographic materials are indexed. Originally, no systematic indexing was done by the creator, therefore, no photographic materials were indexed by IMC before 1984. The photographic index that exists for pre-1987 materials was prepared by the Archives Department and is available on the Finding Aid shelves. Since 1984 IMC has created annual indices in electronic form. This index is available on the Reference Room computer. None of the indices were prepared using subject or name authorities to ensure the use of consistent terms.

Some of the acquired photographic material pre-dates the establishment of the Centre and its predecessors. These are negatives relating to Chancellor Gordon Shrum in his pre-SFU activities, including service in World War I (1916), graduation from University of Toronto (1920), and tenure at University of British Columbia and BC Hyrdo (both undated).
Fonds includes 3.2 m of photographic records, 22 film reels, 17 audio reels, 1 magnetic track, 1 optical track and 5 videocassettes.
