Administrative files

Sub-series consists of administrative files relating to the composition and activities of the Board of Governors. Activities, events and topics documented include Board duties, responsibilities, and elections; appointments to the Board; Board member biographical information and photographs; hiring of the first President; the President's reports to the Board; the Committee of the Whole Discussion on Assessment of the President; correspondence and relations with the Ministry of Advanced Education, Training and Technology; early University planning; and the announcement and construction of the Surrey City Centre site. Records include correspondence, reports, subject files, reference manuals, policy statements, presentations, and photographs.

Year files

This sub-series contains records related to the Social Credit Party provincial election campaigns, by-elections, party conventions, constituency events and membership records. It contains: minutes, campaign and membership promotional material (flyers, stickers, news releases, lawn signs), correspondence, memos, party office material, statements, messages, speeches, lists, directories, by-laws updates, handbooks, ephemera, posters, photographs, convention programs, membership registration slips, newsletters, clippings.

Panels

Subseries contains documents related to organizing panels that were held at the IMAGeNation film and video festival.

Energy industry

This sub-series contains records related to the energy industry in British Columbia, Alberta and Canada in general, including electricity produced by hydro, oil and gas power plants and the implication of energy production on the natural environment. A part of the sub-series documents opposition to the construction of Site C dam in British Columbia. The majority of the documents consist of reports, news items and correspondence.

Theatre program and event recordings

Sub-series consists of audio and audio-visual recordings of individual plays performed at the Theatre. Includes five performances between 1965 and 1972 (sound recordings only) and 2 pieces from 2002 (moving images); see item list and descriptions for details of individual performances.

Media releases and clippings

Sub-series consists of media releases created by TeleLearning, as well as articles, transcripts and other material relating to TeleLearning collected by the Network to monitor its media coverage. Records are retained in paper medium only.

TeleLearning web site

Sub-series consists of the TeleLearning web site as it was in September 2002, when it was burned onto a compact disk. Earlier versions of the web site were not preserved. The main sections include Home page, Profile, Activities and events, Research projects, Conference, Contact, K-12, Post-secondary, Teachers, Workplace, En français, Talk to us, and a Member / researcher section.

Reports and promotional literature

Subseries consists of reports, manuals, reviews, promotional literature, and other materials of the Director of Development. Subseries also includes some correspondence and memoranda. Materials relate to fund raising, foundations, the performance of the Development Office, and other matters.

Legal records

Sub-series consists of legal records of TechBC. Includes records documenting legal advice obtained by TechBC for various reasons, including the Canadian Association of University Teachers (CAUT) boycott of TechBC; student-faculty relations; the development of Bill 30; TechBC policy development; agreements with other universities; and intellectual property, trademarks, copyright, and Freedom of Information legislation issues. Includes also records pertaining to financial audits, property leases, and insurance. Records include correspondence; reports and policies; agreements; financial statements; terms of reference; legislation, constitutions and bylaws; and articles.

Liaison records

Sub-series consists of records relating to TechBC's collaboration and liaison with other universities and colleges; municipal, provincial and federal governments; external organizations, associations, councils, and committees; and the community. Records include correspondence; reports, proposals, papers, and briefing notes; minutes and supporting papers; booklets, promotional and conference material, event notices, and invitations; presentations; newspaper articles, press releases, and newsletters; financial statements and grant applications; contracts; and notes.

Photograph negatives

Sub-series consists of photograph negatives of images of Blaser, Blaser’s family, friends, and colleagues. Photograph negatives belonging to James Felts are included in the series.

Ms Infinity program files

Sub-series comprises records relating to the development and delivery of the Ms Infinity program, a series of one-day conferences for young women in grades 9 and 10 in British Columbia and the Yukon to attend hands-on workshops, presentations and panel sessions that provide information about career options for women in science and technology. The program was started in 1990 and continues in existence. Ms Infinity conferences are organized by the local communities while SCWIST provides a manual and video, training for the community liaison person, and expenses and honoraria for workshop leaders. Records consist of correspondence, reports; committee meeting minutes and supporting papers; grant applications and supporting documentation; workshop presentation materials, including overheads and transparencies; manuals and handbooks; and publicity brochures.

Electronic file backups

Sub-series consists of electronic backups of housepress’s administrative and manuscript files.

Essays

Sub-series consists of handwritten, typed, and photocopied essays written by Blaser.

Forestry and pulp industry

In the early 1990, McCrory began travelling across Canada in a van and began creating a grassroot network of groups working on forest issues. These travels resulted in documenting of pulp and paper industry’s plans to increase the amount of logging taking place in Canada. This sub-series contains documents that resulted from the travel as well as other documents created and collected subsequently that contain records on logging practices and policies, reports on sensitive forest ecosystems and wildlife inhabiting these ecosystems across Canada, reports of pollution and specific pollutants created by pulp and paper industry, as well as general and in-depth forestry practices. The records contain information on softwood lumber companies, quotas and trade legislation and practices. In addition, this sub-series contains information, reports, data and lists related to corporations involved in forestry industry and various forestry regulation and agreements. The records were created and collected by VWS, other environmental activist organizations, involved government agencies, and corporations. The sub-series contains reports, articles, policies, clippings, correspondence, newsletters, brochures, data sheets, maps, corporate details and other material.
This sub-series is divided into sub-sub-series based on geographic location of the forestry and pulp mills: Canada, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Alberta, World.

Sub-series consists of records relating to Fellman's teaching at SFU. Courses documented are:

Markin-Flanagan residency records

Sub-series consists of records relating to the University of Calgary's Markin-Flanagan Distinguished Writers Program. The program was established in 1993, and includes two distinct streams: the Distinguished Visiting Writers, and the Writers-In-Residence. Wah served on the steering committee for the program, participated in the five-year review of the program in 1998 as well as the program's 10th anniversary in 2003. Records include internal correspondence, notes, and administrative records such as meeting minutes.

First Nations-SFU partnership files

Sub-series consists of records arising from Hari Sharma's involvement with the Secwepemc Cultural Education Society of the Shuswap Nation and the Simon Fraser University partnership program. Sub-series includes reports, agreements, notes, statements, correspondence, programs, booklets, newsletters, pamphlets, transcripts, lists, and proposals.

Reviews, Interviews & Articles

Sub-series consists of reviews of Thesen's work, articles on her as an author, and miscellaneous clippings on a variety of topics. Materials include correspondence, handwritten notes, magazines, newspaper magazines, photocopies, posters, journals, and magazine & newspaper clippings.

1910 land mine purchase sale by Dunsmuir notes and research records

Sub-series consists of notes and research records relating to the sale of the company R. Dunsmuir and Sons by James Dunsmuir to Canadian Collieries (Dunsmuir) Ltd. in 1910. In 1910 Canadian Collieries (Dunsmuir) Ltd. also purchased Robert Dunsmuir's company Wellington Colliery Company Ltd. Research materials from this sub-series were used primarily for chapter 2 of Stonebanks’ book.

General records

This sub-series contains records related to general environmental, wilderness and biodiversity issues across Canada and in other location in the world. The issues mentioned include: pesticide, poisons, pollution, endangered animal and plant species, garbage and recycling, and ecosystems conservation issues. The records include reports, articles, news items, correspondence, brochures, ephemera, maps, photographs, and samples.
