File primarily contains copies and originals of articles relating to the establishment and development of the SFU dance program, as well as notable students and visiting dancers, particularly as it relates to Garland. It also includes dance presentation programmes, posters, and media releases. In addition, the file contains a report by Garland on her work accomplishments in 1967, a Canada Council application for a short term grant (1967-1968), and a "Proposed Dance Major" report she wrote in September 1973 in support of a BA degree major in dance that was subsequently established in September 1980. Finally, the file includes a memo from Garland to Student Services regarding the supervision of a student (Karen Greenhough) under a youth employment program in the summer of 1979, which entailed an oral history project of early BC dance pioneers.
