[Negatives and contact sheets including exhibition images]

File consists of the negatives and contact sheets containing the final 98 images used in the “Drawing the Line” exhibition. Also contains notes about certain photographs regarding the photographic printing techniques used for each image: dodging and burning, paper type, etc.

[Drawing the Line Amsterdam]

File consists of records relating to the exhibit of Drawing the Line (translated into “Grenzen van Genot” in Dutch) in Amsterdam in 1993: photographs, magazine, event poster, press release, and exhibition plan. File also consists of an audio cassette, the label of which reads “Text translated from Dutch by: Tavia Oudemans. Exhibition 31 Jan 1993 to 20 Feb 1993.”

[Promotional materials]

File consists of promotional postcards and other materials relating to various artistic exhibitions. Includes materials promoting the “Drawing the Line” show generally, as well as those promoting the show in Washington and Vancouver. Also includes materials relating to the show “Much Sense: Erotics and Life,” for which Kiss and Tell was a contributor, and the show “Nothing But the Girl: The Blatant Lesbian Image.”

[Sojourner article]

File consists of photocopied reproductions of selections from 3 issues of the feminist newspaper “Sojourner: The Women's Forum.” Includes an article entitled “Lesbian and AIDS: Playing it Safe,” featuring photographs by Susan Stewart, and several letters to the editor of the newspaper responding the article and to the photographs.

[Miscellaneous correspondence]

File consists of various correspondence between members of the Kiss and Tell collective and others, relating primarily to the “Drawing the Line” exhibition in Sidney, Australia, the publication of the “Drawing the Line” book, and responses to the show and book.

[Drawing the line outtakes and duplicates]

File consists primarily of photographs taken by Susan Stewart in the creation of the “Drawing the Line” exhibition, but not used for the final show. File also contains duplicate prints and contact prints of some of the 98 photographs used in the final exhibition.

[Drawing the line comments]

File consists of feedback to “Drawing the Line” exhibition: three sets of men’s written comments lefts at various shows, and several postcards filled out with comments.

[Kiss and tell artists’ talk]

File consists of text for an artists’ talk about the “Drawing the Line” show delivered by Susan Stewart, Lizard Jones, and Persimmon Blackbridge.

File consists of articles from various periodicals relating to the shows “Drawing the Line” and “True Inversions,” as well as some general LGBT news items.

[Drawing the line press kit]

File consists of a press kit for the “Drawing the Line” show. The kit contains photographs, a description of the show, physical requirements for installation, list of sample comments from the show, artists’ statement, photocopied reproductions of several reviews of the show, and the resumes of Susan Stewart, Lizard Jones, and Persimmon Blackbridge.

[Drawing the line proofs]

File consists of prints of photographs relating to the “Drawing the line” exhibition. These prints were created to help Stewart, Jones, and Blackbridge decide which images to use in the exhibition, and were also used for inclusion in press kits for the show.

File consists of various records relating to the exhibition of “Drawing the Line”: a statement about the show, instructions for men and women’s participation at the show, sample comments from the walls at past shows, and installation instructions.

[Susan Stewart artist’s life]

File consists of a printed webpage from the Moving Images Distribution website. The page is the descriptive page for the film “Susan Stewart,” a 2003 film about Stewart’s life that is part of the “Artist’s Life” series.

[Drawing the line exhibition contact prints]

File consists of 98 contact prints of the final images used in the “Drawing the Line” exhibition, glued to sheets of paper to demonstrate the order in which the photographs are to be displayed.

File consists of photographs taken of the “Drawing the line” exhibition in the various galleries it was shown. Photographs demonstrate how the exhibit was displayed as well as many of the comments written by participants on the surrounding walls.

[Latitude 53 agreement]

File consists of a letter of agreement between Kiss and Tell Productions, Latitude 53 society of Artists, and Karen Walton. The agreement permits Walton to photograph and film the “Drawing the Line” exhibition at Latitude 53 Gallery in Edmonton, Alberta.

[Queer criticism conference pamphlet]

File consists of 2 copies of the pamphlet for the conference, “Queer Criticism: Dissident Narratives and Subjectivity Intervention,” held May 23-26, 2007, at the International University of Andalusia in Seville, Spain.

[Westender newspaper]

File consists of a copy of the July 16, 2015 issue of the newspaper “Westender,” which contains an article about the 2015 Queer Arts Festival and the anniversary exhibition of the “Drawing the Line” show.
