This file comprises of various letters written by P. V. Verigin. One written to Manitoba Free Press discusses Leo Tolstoi beliefs on eating meat; other to Ivan Mikhailovich Tregubov in Russia about living conditions of Doukhobors in Russia; to A. P. Kariakin; to Doukhobor community in general; to John Oliver, Prime-Minister of B.C. in regards to burning of the schools by Sons of Freedom; and telegram to Anastasia. A couple of letters are in English.

[Peter V. Verigin - correspondence - V. Soloveff]

This file contains Peter V. Verigin's letter written from Calgary on Palliser Hotel letterhead, dated Sept 1, 1924 to Souveloff (Soloveff), discussing business affairs, especially the breeding of horse stock for sale by the CCUB. The file contains two photographs of such horses wit Souveloff and Mikhail Cazakoff.

[Peter V. Verigin - letter while under house arrest in Elizavetpol, Caucasus]

This file contains manuscript letter from Peter V. Verigin written under house arrest in Elizavetpol, Caucasus. Peter was arrested on January 26, 1886 and taken to Elizavetpol for prosecution and eventual sentencing to exile where he remained for the next 16 years. The letter is dated March 28, 1887, one year before the first known and recorded letter was collected and published in Verigin's 1901 collected letters. This letter is addressed: To the Doukhobors of all villages. Verigin is greeting and praying for them al to not hate their brothers, thanking them for their gifts and signed Peter Vasilyevich Verigin. The handwritten letter is accompanied by Russian typed version and English translation by Peter Legebedoff in 1975.

This file comprises of Peter P. Verigin’s letters to V. Samorodin and “Aloysha” (5 letters). Four letters on Verigin’s stationery, signed with Verigin’s customary initials; the fifth letter 2 pages on plain paper, unsigned, but clearly in Verigin’s hand. Letters discuss Samorodin’s role in making communal living in Krestova easier by reconciling differences between factions, and types of farm equipment to be purchased.

This file comprises of letters written between Peter V. Verigin, Anastasia Holoboff and Fedosia Verigin of personal nature as well as of discussing community concerns. This file also contains a few letters written to Fedosia by Podivinnikov and J. J. Verigin.

This file comprises of Peter P. Verigin’s letters to M. Verigin, Vasily Verigin’s daughter, 6 letters (1917), each 2 pages, signed either as Petrushka or P. V., all with original mailing envelopes. Most are on Verigin’s letterhead, though one is mailed from Fort Garry Hotel on their letterhead. Letters discuss his daily activities and gives advice to his nephew’s daughter. In addition, this file contains Peter V. Verigin’s letters to Gabriel Vereschagin, 5 letters (1917), each 2 pages, 4 on Verigin’s stationery, all signed P.V. Vereschagin was one of Verigin’s trusted leaders, and he discusses details of his wishes to be executed in various villages and concerns. Verigin’s letters to Nicolai Markin, 9 letters (1914-1923) 1-2 pages, most with covers, signed P. V or P.V. G.

The sous fonds also contains records related to various Doukhobor cultural organization and cultural activities. This sous fonds contains unpublish writings, publications, correspondence, notes, reports, meeting minutes, clippings, photographs, audio recordings and objects.

Sound recordings

This series contains over 145 audio cassettes created by Steve Lapshinoff from around 1970-1980s including speeches, addresses, community events, radio programs about Doukhobors, interviews with Stephen Sorokin, John J. Verigin and others, choir performances, meetings of Planning and Research Committee for KCIR and possibly some sessions of the EKCIR meetings. Many recordings are in Russian and some in English.

This series contains samples of Doukhobor handmade textiles, including crochet rugs, woolen fabrics and woolen fabrics made for skirts.
