Court records

This series consists of documents relating to libel court case initiated by Stefan Sorokin against Dennis Williams of Trail Times Limited in 1959. Sorokin was represented by Messrs Rankin and Dean Barristers and Solicitors. The records include transcripts of Examination for Discovery, Court of Appeal, related correspondence and documents.

Correspondence

This series consists of correspondence of Stephan Sorokin in capacity as the leader of the CCBRD and a leader/spokesperson of the Sons of Freedom with various individuals of within the Doukhobor community and outside of it, including representatives of the Canadian government and other organizations. This series contains incoming and outgoing correspondence. Many of the letters are with or regarding of the imprisoned members of the Reformed Doukhobors community. Besides letters, telegrams, and open letters, the files in this series contain other records including Sorokin addresses to community, resolution, clippings, texts of poems, psalms and prayers, reports, meeting minutes of the Fraternal Council of CCBRD and other matters related to the CCBRD and the Sons of Freedom. Sorokin’s letters are sent from South America, mainly Montevideo, Uruguay.

Some of correspondents include: F. J. Mead, William Evans, Rankin, Dean & Munro, Joseph Podovinikoff, Walter Siegmeister, W. M. Moojelsky, A. Kolesnikov, I. I. Perepelkin, S. Tomilin, Petr Iliasov, Ivan Chernov, A. Reibin, Steve Lapshinoff, Joseph Ogloff, and Mikhail Chernenkoff.
