Bookstore

Sub-sub-series consists of the Vice-President, Academic's correspondence with, related to, or copied from the University Bookstore during the period when it was administratively part of the Library and belonged to the VP Academic's reporting portfolio (1970-1985; 1990-1994). Activities and topics documented include management, operations, and finances of the Bookstore, policy development, and staff relations. Records include correspondence, reports (including a 1970 study of the financial situation and the 1975/76 annual report), and financial and operating statements.

Associate Vice-President, Academic - general

Sub-sub-series consists of the Vice-President, Academic's correspondence with, related to, or copied from the Associate Vice-President, Academic. Division of responsibilities between the VP and the AVP has changed over time and varied according to the individuals holding these positions. Prior to 1983, this series includes the actual correspondence of the AVP; around this date, the Office of the Associate Vice-President, Academic established its own file classification system and thereafter the AVP's correspondence was maintained separately (see fonds F-201). Activities and topics documented in the correspondence include meetings between the VP and the AVP, policy development, program proposals, government liaison, international activities, budget planning, supervision of units that reported to the AVP, high-school liaison, and promotion of university research. Records includes correspondence, proposals, reports, meeting agenda and minutes, agreements, and notes and working papers.

Computing committees

Sub-sub-series consists of records relating to the activities and deliberations of university committees with responsibilities for university computing policies, operations, and services. Employment equity committees

Sub-sub-series consists of records relating to the university's employment equity program and the activities and deliberations of the Salary Equity Study Committee and the Employment Equity Advisory Committee. Records include correspondence, reports, questionnaires, meeting agendas and minutes, and Compliance Review Reports by the SFU Employment Equity Coordinator.

Analytical Studies

Sub-series consists of the Vice-President's correspondence with, related to, or copied from Analytical Studies. Activities documented included provision and analysis of statistical data supporting enrolment, academic and space planning. Records include correspondence, reports and statistics.

Media and Public Relations

Sub-sub-series consists of the Vice-President, Academic's correspondence with, related to, or copied from Media and Public Relations (called University News Services prior to 1988) during periods when this office either reported to the President or to a Vice-President that had no filing category in the file classification plan. Topics include search for a Director (1982), development of departmental programs and projects (Speakers' Bureau, SFU Ideas, research directory), and tracking SFU's media coverage. Records include correspondence, opinion polls, press releases, brochures, and news clipping reports.

Employment Equity

Sub-sub-series consists of records relating to the planning and implementation of the university's Employment Equity policies and programs, deliberations and activities of the Employment Equity Advisory Committee, and formation of faculty Equity Committees. Records include correspondence, meeting minutes, statistics and reports, equity plans of university department, and copies of Compliance Review Reports.

Vice-President, Financial Services - general

Sub-sub-series consists of the Vice-President Academic's correspondence with, related to, or copied from the Vice-President Financial Services (called Vice-President, Finance from 1985-1988), and some departments in that VP's reporting portfolio (Facilities Management and Security). Topics include payroll, accounting, capital planning, budget policies and procedures, tuition fee policy, development of the administration information system for payroll and personnel, the report of the President's Advisory Committee on Finance (1985), and a report on The Finance Function at SFU prepared by the Woods Gordon firm. Records include correspondence, reports, budget applications, capital plans, and financial statements.
