Director's subject files

Series consists of records made or received by the Director of the Professional Programs division of the Faculty of Education in the course of administering the program area.

Activities documented include policy development, budget planning, and staffing, including the hiring and orientation of school and faculty associates (professionals from the BC school system seconded to assist in the delivery of the PDP program); curriculum and program planning, including First Nations education, French immersion, and decentralization of SFU's PDP program; conferences, colloquia, liaison with school districts, and administration of external PDP sites; liaison with faculty task forces and committees, other units in the faculty, other SFU departments, other universities, provincial government ministries and agencies, and educational and professional associations; and student relations, advising, and post-graduation employment.

Records include correspondence, reports, proposals, statistics, program information, orientation packages and handbooks, lists of faculty associates, policies and procedures, event schedules, notes and working papers, and printed reference material.

Salaries

Sub-sub-series consists of records relating to faculty salaries, including policy development, and the activities of the Market Differential Advisory Committee (1991-1993) and the University Salary Appeals Committee (1992-1995). Records include correspondence, reports, statistics, policies, meeting schedules, agendas, and minutes.

University / Industry Liaison Office

Sub-sub-series consists of the Vice-President, Academic's correspondence with, related to, or copied from the Director of the of the University / Industry Liaison Office (UILO). Activities and topics documented include policy development, and research contracts and grants. Records include correspondence, budgets, contracts, policies, and lists of research awards.

Media and Public Relations

Sub-sub-series consists of the Vice-President, Academic's correspondence with, related to, or copied from Media and Public Relations (called University News Services prior to 1988) during periods when this office either reported to the President or to a Vice-President that had no filing category in the file classification plan. Topics include search for a Director (1982), development of departmental programs and projects (Speakers' Bureau, SFU Ideas, research directory), and tracking SFU's media coverage. Records include correspondence, opinion polls, press releases, brochures, and news clipping reports.

Research centres, groups and institutes

Sub-sub-series consists of records relating to the establishment and activities of research centres and institutes, including proposals for centres that were not successful. Records include correspondence, brochures, meeting minutes, reports (including annual reports), proposals and applications, agreements, and budgets.
