Scope and content
B.P. Nichol with George Bowering, Daphne Marlatt, and Roy Miki at Poetry Seminar in the SFU Pub seminar room on July 21, 1982. Roy Miki asks bp how The Martyrology got going and what direction he had intended it to go and they continue their discussion. Bp says when he initially wrote he was trying to notate his voice as it happened, get the syntax down to the body and breathing. Later he gets down to challenge the notation, to create a particular sound effect. So he can use syntax and notation to extend the range of sound. George talks about difference between typewriting and handwriting, the presence of the body in written script. In the typewriter you can by pass the body. Daphne Marlatt disagrees
