Pre-craft period examples include bottles from the Victoria-Phoenix Brewery, Sick's Capilano Brewery (Old Style Beer, ca. 1940s), Vancouver Breweries (Old Country Ale, ca. 1940s), and a Silver Springs Lager Beer from Labatt's (ca. 1960s). Craft breweries represented include Canoe, Spinnakers and Swans brewpubs, Phillip's Brewing, Tall Ship Ale Company. Includes a bottle of Big Bad John's Traditional English Barley Wine, a beer brewed by Phillips in honour of John Rowling in recognition of his contributions to BC's craft beer community.

Rowling created a scrapbook (digitized as file 1) presenting examples in roughly chronological order, ranging from early Victoria breweries (Sliver Spring, Victoria-Phoenix) through to contemporary craft breweries. In addition to the scrapbook there were a large number of loose labels grouped into envelopes. Labels for pre-craft beer period breweries are arranged in file 2, craft breweries (post-1982) into file 3. Within these groupings, labels are arranged alphabetically by brewery.

There are also three Microsoft Access database files, dating to around 2003. The membership lists mainly cover the years 1996-2005, with just one list for a later date (2016).

Sub-sub-series 3 represents a fairly complete run of What's Brewing, the newsletter of CAMRA BC, from 1990 to 2010. Sub-sub-series 1 contains several issues of the BC Beer Front News, the magazine of CAMRA BC's predecessor organization, established in the 1980s in the Lower Mainland (see the CAMRA BC administrative history for more details). Sub-sub-series 2 contains a copy of a 1990 issue of the newsletter (also called What's Brewing) produced by CAMRA Canada. All records in this sub-series are in paper format.

Sub-series consists of records relating to the planning and organization of the annual Great Canadian Beer Festival in Victoria. The date range (1993-2014) reflects Rowling's period of involvement in the director organization of the festival. As a director of the GCBF Society, Rowling kept an extensive set of digital files for each year's festival, typically using the same or a similar set of folders to organize the records. Records include festival business plans, surveys and reports; correspondence with breweries, exhibitors, and the BC Liquor Control Board; application and order forms; budgets, invoices and donation correspondence; volunteer task lists and manuals; publicity and media packages. Records exist exclusively in digital form; original file formats are predominantly Microsoft Office documents (doc, docx, xls, xlsx), with a small number of pdfs, jpgs, and PowerPoint files.

Records include Society incorporation papers, by-laws, and certificate of dissolution; proposals and reports; festival business plans, manuals, surveys, reports and budget papers; address book, correspondence, notes and working papers.

Sub-series consists of photographs taken at each year's beer festival. In some years, beginning around 2006, the GCBF had multiple photographers at the event. The sub-series is a hybrid of print and digital photos. All print copies are located in file 1; the remainder were transferred in digital form. Around 2003 GCBF photographers shifted from film to digital cameras. Digital copies of earlier photographs are likely scans from the original prints or negatives, whereas the later images were born-digital. The predominant file format is jpg.

Most of the breweries representated belong to the craft beer period (post-1982), but there are some earlier items, including bottle openers for the Victoria-Phoenix Brewing Company and Vancouver Breweries Ltd, as well as a 1911 receipt book for the Silver Spring Brewery.

Most posters originate in the craft beer period (post-1982), but file 6 includes two posters for the historical Silver Springs Brewery in Victoria. Other breweries represented include R&B Brewing Company (ca. 1990s), Spinnakers Brewpub (ca. 1990s), Tall Ship Ale Company (ca. 1990s), Cannery Brewing Company (2001), and Phillips Brewing Company (2011). The sub-series also includes a poster for Hopunion (ca. 2000s) and a 1997 poster on BC's Microbrewed Experience.
