Sales and distribution records

Series consists of records relating to book sales and distribution; these document Nunaga’s relationship with its sales representatives and agencies including J.J. Douglas, McIntyre and Stanton, Belford and Mountain Press.

Sales figures records

Series consists of balance sheets detailing book sales by title per month, grouped by year. The reports visibly grow more complex over the years as computerization and software allowed for greater detail in accounting. Records include: balance sheets, both handwritten and printouts.

Saskatchewan land settlement

Series comprises primarily government correspondence pertaining to the Doukhobor land settlement in Saskatchewan. Principal correspondents are the Department of the Interior (Ottawa), regional Dominion land offices in Saskatchewan (particularly the Dominion Lands Office in Yorkton, Saskatchewan), individual Doukhobor settlers, and the York Farmers’ Colonization Company Ltd. (headquarters Toronto) which arranged the land settlement of many Doukhobors in Saskatchewan. Items in the series evidence the legal and bureaucratic side of land settlement and reference: specific government acts and regulations; the granting of permission for ‘entry’ to settle land plots; notification of the cancellation of entry for land plots; liens placed against homesteads; individual settlers’ applications for patent on their homesteads following the payment of liens and the fulfillment of additional requirements. The majority of items are dated, handwritten on official letterhead and carry the dated stamp of the receiving office. Letter enclosures such as official forms are included. Series of correspondence pertaining to specific issues or individual settler cases emerge.

All items are in English; some carry fragments of Russian.

Scholarly work

Series consists of records related to Karasick’s research and scholarly work. Records include research notes, drafts, completed essays and some correspondence. The series is divided into subseries: PhD thesis, essays and pechakuchas, and conference presentations.

Sea hunters records

Series consists of records relating to the production of the National Geographic television show "The Sea Hunters," which James Delgado co-hosted with Clive Cussler from 2001 to 2006. Series contains correspondence and administrative records relating to the show, research records, photographs, and video recordings of episodes.
The series has been arranged into the following four sub-series: Episode files (1999-2006), Photographs (2000-2005), Slides (2001-2004), and Video recordings (1999-2005).

"Selling Canada" - Daniel Francis

This series is comprised of records related to the conception and publication of the book “Selling Canada: Three Propaganda Campaigns that Shaped the Nation” published in 2011.
The series is divided into the following 6 sub-series: Drafts, proofs and edits ([ca. 2009]), Project development and correspondence (2010-2011), Post-production, promotions, and reviews (2011-2012), Image copyright requests and agreements (2005-2010), Images collected for use in “Selling Canada" ([2005?]) and Research conducted for "Selling Canada" (2004-2010).

Series 1. Printing Examples and Business Records

Series consists of examples of printing done by the Margison Brothers Printers, as well as a small amount of business records and other miscellaneous items created by the family. Items include stationary, greeting cards, calling cards, business cards, invitations, announcements, posters, cash books, sales tax info and other fiscal records, clip art, newspaper clippings, a publication entitled “Be Tolerant”, and information about a platen printing press.

Margison Brothers Printers

SFU and International Centre of Art for Social Change

This series consists of records relating to Judith Marcuse's involvement with Simon Fraser University and the International Centre of Art for Social Change, from inception until when the records were donated. The series is divided into four sub-series: Sub-series 1: Administrative records (1996-2019); Sub-series 2: Financial records (2007-2010); Sub-series 3: Grants/fundraising records (2008-2012) and Sub-series 4: Promotional records: ([2006?]-2009).

Short stories records

Series consists of records relating to the writing and publishing of Flood’s many short stories. Records include drafts, notes, research, correspondence with publishers, publishing documents and printed journals. The series is divided into the following five sub-series: "The Animals in Their Elements" notes, drafts and other records (1976-1998); "My Father Took a Cake to France" notes, drafts and other records (1986-1999); "The English Stories" notes, drafts and other records (1990-2007); Published stories - general records (1968-2008); and Records related to unpublished stories (1961-1986).

Simon Fraser University, Department of Geography and the Union of Socialist Geographers records

This series is comprised of minutes of meetings, project reports, academic papers, departmental notes and memos regarding the relationship between the SFU Department of Geography and faculty members who were strong followers of Socialist Geography as a field, as well as with the USG. There is also documentation relating to the Vancouver Geographical Expedition, a community project developed by SFU graduate students that was inspired by previous work conducted in North America.

Songs texts records

This series consists of the songs, hymns and psalms texts, music sheets and other material related to Doukhobor songs and music as vital part of Doukhobor culture and traditions. Large number of these files are original and translated Doukhobor songs, many of which are unpublished. Some of material was used as source for singing by Eli's wife Dorothy and others. A number of files in this series were created in collaboration with Kenneth Peacock of National Museum in Ottawa.

Sons of Freedom

This series consists of records mainly created, received and accumulated by members of the Sons of Freedom as well as records created by members of the Doukhobor community and organizations, such as the Christian Community of Universal Brotherhood (CCUB), the Universal Spiritual Community of Christ (USCC) and the Christian Community and Brotherhood of Reformed Doukhobors (CCBRD) that relate to the Sons of Freedom. The records include: correspondence, writings, petitions, statements, messages, declarations, protocols, lists, legal documents, songs texts, essays, speeches, newspaper clippings, photographs, and publications. The records are in Russian and/or English; some are printed and some are handwritten, some have accompanying transcriptions and/or translations; some are original documents and some are photocopies. This series is divided in to nine sub-series: 1: Correspondence; 2: Writings; 3: Key people; 4: Prison related documents; 5: Land related documents; 6: Arson related documents; 7: General Documents; 8: Publications; and 9: Photographs.

Sound recordings

Series consists of sound recordings of Al Neil's group and solo performances, source tapes, and interviews.

Sound recordings

This series contains over 145 audio cassettes created by Steve Lapshinoff from around 1970-1980s including speeches, addresses, community events, radio programs about Doukhobors, interviews with Stephen Sorokin, John J. Verigin and others, choir performances, meetings of Planning and Research Committee for KCIR and possibly some sessions of the EKCIR meetings. Many recordings are in Russian and some in English.

Specific campaigns

This series contains material related to specific campaigns that Valhalla Wilderness Society initiated, and advocated for or against. The sub-series contains detailed development plan, environmental impact reports and assessments, environmental legislations, correspondence, publications, newsletters, presentation, data sheets, news clippings, maps, postcards, photographs and other documents.
The series is divided into seven sub-series: Valhalla Park; Kootenay Boundary Land Use; Clayoquot Sound; Taiga Rescue Network; Forest certification and stewardship; Singing forest; Jumbo Glacier Resort

Speeches

Series consists of records relating to Duke’s public appearances. The records include speaking notes and research related to these events. Includes records relating to the following speaking events and interviews:

Speeches, talks, writings, will

This series consists of mimeographed transcripts of speeches, interviews, talks, writings, messages and will of P. P. Verigin. Most of the records were transcribed/written down by individuals working with P. P. Verigin (transcriber is not always indicated). Some of the transcribers are: V. Sukharev, P. Biriukov, N. Dergaysov, I. Malov. There is only one handwritten message by Verigin himself. Verigin’s will was captured by Mikhail Verigin. In addition, this series includes photocopy of biographical manuscript of “Gloom shadow of Ivan the Terrible” that appears to be written by P.P. Verigin. Some of mimeographed records are original, some are photocopies. All records are in Russian except for some speeches that are supplied with handwritten translation in English.

Speeches, writings, views

This series consists of documents that were written by P. V. Verigin himself or by other individuals relating his views and ideas. These documents include transcripts of speeches and interviews, petitions, opinion pieces on the Doukhobor community and faith as well as some of the letter-like documents with his opinions on education. It also contains 70 page manuscript in a notebook by F. I. Wishloff recording P.V. Verign’s speeches. All documents in Russian, except for a few documents supplied with English translation.

Stamps and related records

Series consists of AIDS-themed single stamps, mint blocks, mint full sheets, slogan cancels, first day covers, comic books and related records collected by Blair Henshaw. Henshaw’s collection represents philatelic materials issued by 84 different jurisdictions.

Subject files

Series consists of records created or accumulated by Roger Stonebanks relating to his research about Ginger Goodwin’s life. Records were used in the creation of Stonebanks’ book “Fighting for Dignity: The Ginger Goodwin Story” and files typically correspond to persons, topics, themes, or time periods in Stonebanks’ book. Records include interview notes, correspondence, photographs and other graphic material, audio cassette tapes, reproduced research records from various sources, and Stonebanks’ notes about sources consulted. Some research records date past 2004, after the publication of Stonebanks’ books, and thus were not used as research sources.

Symposiums and festivals

This series consists of records relating to the Doukhobor organized events including: intergroup symposium, centennial celebration of Doukhobor arrival in Canada and cultural festival. The records include: correspondence, promotional materials, open letters and messages, programs, and clippings.

Tamarind Mem

Series consists of notebooks containing drafts and notes, unbound drafts, and one copy edited by Algonquin Books of Chapel Hill for the novel Tamarind Mem. It also includes articles, interviews and reviews from Canadian and international newspapers.

Teaching

This series contains information related to Bartlett’s teaching at Simon Fraser University, the University of Victoria, and various public lectures including those at the Western Front. Material also includes student submissions such as compositions, writing, and recordings. The series includes textual materials and some audio recordings.

Teaching & Events

Series consists of Thesen's work teaching at Concordia University, Dawson College, and the Sage Hill Writing Experience. Materials include correspondence, department course guides, schedules, students’ work, newspaper clippings, posters, event programs, cassette tapes, tickets, letter of agreement, poems, class announcements, department news, photographs, and other materials.
