Photographs

This series contains print and negative photographs depicting various events and meetings organized by The Social Credit Party during provincial election and by-election campaigns, party leadership conventions, conferences and annual general meetings. It also includes images of party wide events as well as events specific to single constituency offices, including: Burnaby-Edmonds, Burnaby-Willingdon, Richmond, Vancouver-East, Coquitlam, Chilliwack, Abbotsford, and Cariboo. This also includes images of many events organized by BC Young Socreds.

Series consists of photographs, negatives and contact sheets of IMAG events, including the annual film and video festival opening ceremonies, honouring ceremonies, panels, youth programs, and other events, the traveling film and video festivals, IMAG workshops such as the Randy Redroad workshop, and training programs, such as the Healing Hands training program.

This series consists of photographs and photocopy of photographs relating to the Sons of Freedom protests, including arson and nude demonstrations. In addition, the file includes two microfiches dated 1983 and 1984 from Selkirk College library with listing of book titles regarding local natural resources.

This series contains black and white photographs from various periods of P. V. Verigin’s life starting from around 1895 until his death and funeral in 1924. This series also contains photos of Verigin’s tomb in or after 1925. In specific, this series contains photographs of Verigin’s with his family, with close friends and with the Doukhobor communities in Verigin, Saskatchewan and in Brilliant, British Columbia during various events. There are photographs of Verigin demonstrating farming machinery, racing carriages, posing with community in the villages, as well as many photos from Verigin’s funeral and community visits to his tomb. One fine larger photograph, shows Verigin directing a steam tractor pulling a plow and harrow on the Prairie. In a letter to Tolstoy in December 1903, Verigin specifically describes buying these machines in the summer of 1903 in time for planting and harvesting at the end of that season. Other important images include 2 postcard size images labeled, “Machinery Sold to Doukhobors at Yorkton With Peter Verigin at X” and “A Doukhobor Outfit Ready to Move” showing the first two steam-driven tractors, with attached combines, to be brought into Yorkton by the Doukhobors, a move which some believe spurred jealousy among other farmers who agitated more strongly against the Doukhobors, and thus led to the calamitous reversals of policy by the Canadian government regarding conditions for Doukhobor settlement.

This series consists of one party hand-colored and 25 black and white photographs of J. J. Verigin and his family taken at various events, such as funeral of Peter P. Verigin, funeral of Evodokia, funeral of Anna Fedorova, J. J. Verigin’s wedding and Jubilee 50th anniversary of Doukhobors in Canada. There are several composite photographs containing images that pre-date the composites in some cases by a couple of decades.

This series contains photographs (black and white, colour, prints, slides, and negatives) from all periods of Bartlett’s life. There are extensive photographs of his travels in South East Asia, as well as numerous photos from his home on the Sunshine Coast and his travels with friends in his sailboat.

Series displays photographs taken on Piers Island showing the officers, guards, and matrons; male and female prisoners visiting through a fence that separates men’s and women’s compounds; female prisoners working; penitentiary buildings; penitentiary perimeter; vessel used for transferring prisoners; and a patrol boat. As there are no dates recorded for these photographs, it is not possible to determine the exact dates they were taken; however, based on the subject matter, it is assumed that dates of creation are between 1932 and 1934.

Series consists of photographs of Peter Trower, his partner Yvonne Klan, and their family, friends and other acquaintances. Photographs relate to Trower’s writing, musical and personal activities, his childhood in England and Canada, and his family life. Series includes many photographs of Trower with writer and publisher friends, giving readings, attending literary events, awards ceremonies, and book signings and performing with former bandmates Mike Dunn and Ken Dagliesh, Industrial Accident and the Caulk Boots and Marlin Spikes production. Also included are photographs taken during the filming of the documentary "Between the Sky and the Splinters" in 1976, photographs of Trower’s travels with Yvonne, his various residences, publicity shots for book covers, and photographs from his seventieth birthday party in 2000. This series consists of photographs created and received by the Woodsworth/MacInnis families. They are primarily posed studio portrait images, although photographs from later years tend to be photographs related to Grace MacInnis's political career.

This series consists of The Makortoff family collection of 136 photographic images. Some of the photographic images in this collection are in the form of postcards. The images depict Makortoff family members as well as various individuals related to the family at various social functions. Often, individuals or groups were photographed in the garden, in the fields or in front of the farm dwellings. There are photographs depicting transportation modes of the time period including horse carts and automobiles.

Series consists of nine photographs of the same Occupy Vancouver group of activists taken from different angles and one photograph of a single protester. It also includes eighteen digital videos and fifty digital photographs taken on October 15, 2011 by Sue Wilson with images related to the Raging Grannies, activists’ activities, policemen, posters and media.

Series consists of various photographs collected by Betty Krawczyk. Series includes photographic prints of various sizes that document Krawczyk’s activities in community organizations, protests, prison, and her family. Some photographs have corresponding handwritten notes attached to them.

Photographs from Sorokin visit

This series contains photograph negatives from Sorokin's first visit to British Columbia. The images contain community events celebrating Sorokin's visit, small and large groupings of community members, view of villages, forest, garden and fields, nude individuals protesting, etc. Many of the negatives in this series may have a few variation of the same image amounting to around of 100 unique images.

Series consists of material related to publications issued by Pie Tree Press, including books, prints, and broadsides. Includes material relating to Rimmer’s work on an abandoned book entitled “Fred Goudy, Type Designer,” and the development and publication of A Christmas Carol, Shadow River: the Selected and Illustrated Poems of Pauline Johnson, Leaves from the Pie Tree and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, as well as various Wayzgoose publications. Series consists of material relating to the developments, publication and promotion of Peter Trower’s published books of poetry. Includes edited and unedited manuscripts, outlines, correspondence, editorial comments, introductions by other authors, galley proofs, illustrations and photographs, and promotional material.

Series has been arranged into nine sub-series according to book: Poems for a dark Sunday records (1964-1969), Ragged horizons records (1976-1977), Bush poems records ([ca. 1978]), Unmarked doorways records (1989), Hitting the bricks records (1997), Chainsaws in the cathedral records (1998), A ship called Destiny records ([ca. 1999]-2000), There are many ways records (1961-2002), and Haunted hills and hanging valleys records (2002-2004).

Series consists of copies of published poems by Peter Trower. Record types include newspaper and magazine clippings, photocopies, broadsheets, and an optical disc.

Series consists of material relating to unpublished collections of Peter Trower’s poetry. Includes an edited manuscript for a proposed book entitled "The Gathering: Poems New and Revised," initial and final selections of poems for a proposed book entitled "Through the Apricot Air: Selected poems 1969-2002," poems drafts and selections of a proposed book entitled "Smeltertown and Other Poems" (or, alternately, "Smeltertown and Points South"), and an aborted logging poetry anthology to be co-edited with David Day.

Poetry readings and other performance records

Series consists of textual, visual, and audio materials related to poetry readings and performances of materials written by Blaser as well as other individuals. The series is divided into the following five sub-series: Readings and performances by Blaser records; Promotional materials for readings and performances by Blaser; Audio and video recordings of readings and performances by Blaser; Audio and video recordings of readings and performances of others; and The Last Supper (opera) related records.
