Reading and Study Centre

Sub-sub-series consists of records relating to the daily administration of the Reading and Study Centre and establishment of the Study Skills Service after the Centre was closed. Records include program and workshop planning; budget and fee proposals; advertising in SFU Week and The Peak; development of the ESL and evening English language programs; correspondence with the university community; staff contracts; and a copy of the document "Report of the External Review Committee on the Reading and Study Centre at SFU." Records include correspondence and working papers, reports, financial papers, contracts, and publications including poster sand brochures.

Canada Employment Centre

Sub-sub-series consists of records relating to the daily administration of the Canada Employment Centre (Canada Manpower Centre) and includes annual reports; statistics; policies and procedures; documents regarding employment recruiting and student job placement assistance; goals and objectives of the Centre; correspondence with the university community, government, and other universities; budget reports and staffing positions; brochures and posters advertising services of the employment centre; newsletters from the University and College Placement Association; and the report "Canada Employment Centre on Campus - SFU: A History and Overview." Financial Aid

Sub-sub-series consists of records relating to the daily administration of the Financial Aid Office on campus and includes correspondence with students, clubs, and government organizations regarding funding, staff positions and program development; budgets, policies and procedures; adjudication documents regarding scholarships, awards, bursaries and emergency loans to students; and reports from the Senate Committee on Scholarships, Awards and Bursaries and the University Review Committee on Financial Aid. Records include correspondence and working papers, financial statements, statistics, reports, and newspaper clippings.

General

Sub-sub-series consists of records relating to general topics relating to Student Services Departments and includes correspondence with members of the university community. Activities documented include administration of Futures and the Management by Objectives programs and review of Student Services. Records include correspondence and working papers, minutes and reports.

Daycare

Sub-sub-series consists of records relating to the establishment and administration of a Daycare on campus and includes correspondence regarding a brief prepared by the Students' Council Day Nursery Committee, a proposal for the operation of a campus day care centre by the Simon Fraser Co-operative Family, and insurance coverage for the child care centre. Records include correspondence, an agenda, legal papers and a report.

Chaplaincy

Sub-sub-series consists of records relating to the daily administration of the Chaplaincy on campus and includes Dean's correspondence with religious representatives on and off campus; planning for the "Festival of Religion and the Arts" hosted by the Chaplaincy Office; chaplaincy denomination statistics; and an interview between the Acting Chairman of the Chaplaincy and the Peak. Records include correspondence and working papers, reports, news releases, and statistics.

Reading and Study Services

Sub-sub-series consists of records relating to the daily administration of Reading and Study Services and includes Dean's correspondence with Reading and Study Services staff and the university community; program schedules and evaluation reports; student assessment forms; budgets, and development of the Business and Professional Program. Documentation includes the reports "Outline of a Proposed Reading Instruction Program for Practicing Teachers" and "Development Plan for Classroom reading Instruction Course." Health Services

Sub-sub-series consists of records relating to the daily administration of Health Services and includes Dean's correspondence with Health Services staff, the university community, and the Medical Services Commission; student insurance and medical plans; office space and project proposals; budget and policy development; and procedures for medical forms and examinations. Also included are the reports "University Health Services Report" and "Summary of Mental Health Survey: SFU to Date." Counselling Services

Sub-sub-series consists of records relating to the daily administration of Counselling Services and includes Dean's correspondence with Counselling personnel and the university community; development of policies and procedures; minutes from staff meetings; and budget planning. Residences and Housing

Sub-sub-series consists of records relating to the daily administration of Residences and Housing and includes Dean's correspondence with the Residence Coordinator and campus residents regarding play areas for children, parking, food services, and housing repairs; student rental inquiries; housing and transportation surveys; fee and rental agreements; and research into off-campus student housing. Also documented are the minutes of the Board of Governors Special Housing Committee, the Residence Committee, the Tenants' Association, the Residence Planning and Policy Committee, and the President's Committee of University Residences. Records include correspondence and working papers, agendas and minutes, reports, and financial statements.

Sub-sub-series consists of a contract, royalties, notes, correspondence and publicity clippings related to “Powertown: Democracy Discarded,” by Doris French Shackleton, published in 1977 by McClelland & Stewart.

Sub-sub-series consists of research, interviews, clippings, contracts, royalties, correspondence, photograph and accounts relating to Shackleton’s book, published 1975 by McClelland & Stewart, and subsequent article on Tommy Douglas. "Tommy Douglas" was reissued by Formac in 1983.

Sub-sub-series consists of correspondence, royalties, notes, and news clippings relating to Shackleton and Stewart’s book, published in 1959 by Longmans, Green, and subsequent article on Agnes Macphail. Series also contains correspondence, research notes, and the script for the 1977 NFB documentary film “The Lady from Grey County.”

This sub-sub-series contains records related to forest ecosystems, forest management and forestry industry world-wide and some with focus on specific countries, such like Japan, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland, India, and Brazil. Some records related to specific types of forest such as mangroves and boreal forests and some relate to timber supply and trade. This sub-sub-series contains reports, publications, articles and some correspondence.

Alberta

This sub-sub-series contains material related to the Alberta’s forest management and forestry industry, specifically including records related to the following companies: Daishowa, Alberta Pacific Forest Industries, Alberta Energy Company, Grand Alberta Pulp Mills, Proctor & Gamble, and Crestbrook Forest Industries. Some records relate to Daishowa-Marubeni International Ltd. corporation dispute with the Lubicon Lake Nation and The Friends of the Lubicon organization. It contains reports, clippings, newsletters, data sheets, correspondence, photographs, maps, posters and corporate records.

Manitoba

This sub-sub-series contains material related to Manitoba’s parks development policies, forestry management and pulp industry. Some files contain records on Manitoba’s boreal forests. It contains reports, policies, maps and cartographic diagrams, correspondence, etc.

Saskatchewan

This sub-sub-series contains material related to forestry industry and forest situation in Saskatchewan, including forest management plans. This sub-sub-series contains several images of forest cuts and Meadow Lake protest. Some records document Indigenous peoples’ situation in relation to land use and industrial activities, including protest against deforestation. It contains reports, clippings, newsletters, data sheets, correspondence, photographs, and maps.

British Columbia

This sub-sub-series contains material related to forestry industry in British Columbia, specifically including records related to the following companies: Slocan Forest Products, Canfor, Omineca, and Celgar pulp mills. Many records relate to the forest management policies, logging quotas and statistics as well as legislation establishing the Allowable Annual Cuts. Some documents discuss the British Columbia situation in general and some discuss the specific geographic regions, such as Kootenays Vancouver Island, Northeast BC, etc. as well as specific forestry issues, such as old growth logging, timber supply and sales. It contains reports, proposal and plans, analysis, papers, articles, regulations, maps, correspondence, clippings, newsletters, notes, etc. Some records document Indigenous peoples’ situation in relation to land use and industrial activities.
