Prairies

This file contains photographs of Doukhobor tent settlement on the prairies in Saskatchewan, possibly shortly after arrival in Canada around 1900.

Early photographs I

This file contains photographs depicting the Doukhobor families in traditional clothes in Saskatchewan and BC, usually studio photographs from approximately 1900s-1920s. Other photographs depict workers, families, some events such as funeral or concert. Some photographs are in a postcard format.

[Bazovsky, Peter]

This file consists of correspondence of Peter Bazovsky, a Freedomite advocate in Vancouver, who in 1950s and early 1960s was concerned with a possible resettlement of the Sons of Freedom to other countries, particularly to the USSR or to South America. This file consists of incoming and outgoing correspondence with the government officials and organizations, correspondence with Walter Siegmeister of the New Era Colonization Society in regards to the immigration to Brazil, and with the Tolstoy Foundation, including Alexandra Tolstoy.

Michael Verigin

This file contains correspondence, writings, statements, protocols related to Michael Verigin (Orekoff) and his attempts to become the next leader of the Doukhobor community. Michael Verigin was a third cousin of Peter V. Verigin in the female line. The majority of the documents in this file are from 1930s and 1940s, and the authorship of documents is not always clear. Some documents are signed by the Elders of the Spiritual Community of Christs, including Michael Verigin, as well as by A. Kolesnikoff, I. Lebedoff, A. Bell, S. Savinkoff, V. Zuboff, P. Tarasoff, F. Pozdniakoff. This file also includes a letter by L. N. Tolstoy (1900).
