Vice-President, Academic - general

Sub-sub-series consists of records filed under the "general" classification category or under a short-lived classification code and which relate to the functions and activities of the Office of the Vice-President, Academic, and which were. Activities and topics documented include the search for a Vice-President (1968-1970) and the appointment of the Associate Vice-President (1975); correspondence with external individuals and organizations (inlcuding some correspondence relating to purely personal matters of the Vice-President); the organization and administration of the VP Academic's office, and staff relations; university policy development, strategic planning, re-organization, budget allocation, the report of the Financial Resources Task Force (1981), and planning for the Fraser Valley (1989-1991); legal advice; and meetings with Vice-Presidenst, Academic from other universities. Records include correspondence, policies, reports, job descriptions, invitations, contracts and agreements, and legal services invoices and advice.

Wide distribution memos

Sub-sub-series consists of memoranda sent by the Vice-President, Academic for wide distribution, typically to all faculty Deans and department Chairs. Topics include program planning, budget, faculty positions, class size, employment equity, external reviews, tuition fees, international activities, and IT planning for Y2K. Records include memoranda, reports, schedules, meeting material, and statistics. Note that prior to 1992 the file classification system had no special category for this type of material and that wide-dstribution memos may be found throughout the fonds.

Teaching and faculty staff matters - general

Sub-sub-series consists of records relating to teaching and faculty staff matters in general, including policies and procedures relating to appointments, the activities of the University Appointments Committee (1992-1993), integrity in research, faculty recruitment planning, and leaves, sabbaticals, and retirements. Records include correspondence, reports, faculty position authorizations, and performance review statistics.

Policies and procedures

Sub-sub-series consists of records relating to the development, revision, interpretation, and reorganization of the university's academic policies and procedures, including appointment, faculty workload, and the harassment policy. Records include correspondence, reports, drafts, and policies.

1999 GCBF working files

Sub-sub-series consists of records relating to the planning and organization of the 1999 Great Canadian Beer Festival (GCBF) in Victoria. It took place on the weekend of November 5-6, 1999 and was held at the Victoria Conference Centre. For record types, see parent sub-series description.

Alberta

This sub-sub-series contains material related to the Alberta’s forest management and forestry industry, specifically including records related to the following companies: Daishowa, Alberta Pacific Forest Industries, Alberta Energy Company, Grand Alberta Pulp Mills, Proctor & Gamble, and Crestbrook Forest Industries. Some records relate to Daishowa-Marubeni International Ltd. corporation dispute with the Lubicon Lake Nation and The Friends of the Lubicon organization. It contains reports, clippings, newsletters, data sheets, correspondence, photographs, maps, posters and corporate records.

"Tommy Douglas"

Sub-sub-series consists of research, interviews, clippings, contracts, royalties, correspondence, photograph and accounts relating to Shackleton’s book, published 1975 by McClelland & Stewart, and subsequent article on Tommy Douglas. "Tommy Douglas" was reissued by Formac in 1983.

Liaison - post-secondary education records

Sub-sub-series consists of records relating to TechBC's liaison activities with other post-secondary institutions, and includes material regarding British Columbia universities, university-colleges, colleges, and institutes in general, as well as records relating to TechBC's relations with Canadian universities outside of British Columbia. Records include correspondence, reports, minutes, and newsletters.

Registration issues

Sub-sub-series consists of records relating to registration issues, including admissions policy, telephone registration, and the activities and deliberations of the Enrolment Management Steering Committee (1992). Records include correspondence, meeting minutes, a survey relating to telephone registration, enrolments statistics, and reports. Note that prior to 1992 there was no separate category in the office file classification plan for "registration issues" and that this type of material was filed under "Registrar - general"; see sub-sub-series 1 (F-200-2-2-1).
