General operational files

Series consists of operational files reflecting the editing and publishing of Rattler magazine. Records reflect the production process, promotion of the zine, and the reception of Rattler in the local press. Includes correspondence, notes, clippings, posters, other poetry zines, ephemera, and silk-screened t-shirts.

Dance, movement and music scores

This series represents a collection of dance scores and choreographic materials compiled throughout Ruth’s career. Some are for single events while others show the growth and evolution of pieces as they are adapted over the years for different venues, groups or types of dances, and to the audiences for which they are performed.

Corporate records

Series consists of corporate records for Nunanga Publishing Ltd. These include minutes, resolutions, contracts, agreements, invoices, shares, Nunaga’s logo design, and financial and tax records.

Book and magazine project files

Series consists of project files for books and magazines originated or purchased by Nunaga Publishing or Antonson Publishing. Records include publicity clippings, correspondence, notes, publications, graphic material, manuscripts and photographs. Series is divided into two sub-series: Published by Nunaga/Antonson (1970-1980) and Distributed by Nunaga/Antonson (1975-1978).

Series includes newspaper and magazine articles and gallery publications mentioning Al Neil and his work as a musician, artist and writer.

Thesis and university work

Series consists of records relating to Evans' completion of his Master of Arts degree in the Department of History at the University of Victoria. Evans entered the program in 1985 and completed his thesis, The Vancouver Island Brewing Industry: 1858-1971, in 1991.

The series includes a paper and digitized copy of the thesis (files 18-20 and 21 respectively); two course papers that set out the program of study (files 2-3); chapter drafts and notes, including materials for a chapter on labour ("The Workplace") that was omitted in the final thesis (file 10); and administrative records relating to Evans' enrolment in the Master's program (file 1).

Records include notes and working papers, essays, draft chapters, and thesis; correspondence, transcripts, and letters of recommendation.

Files are arranged chronologically.

Great Canadian Beer Festival files

Series consists of records relating to the Great Canadian Beer Festival (GCBF), held annually in Victoria since 1993. Originally known as the Victoria Microbrewery Festival, Evans was involved in organizing the event in its early years. Files include documentation for a bottle exhibit of historic BC brands in 1994, the festival budget for 1995, and text of a public talk he gave in 1996. The program booklet for 1994 includes his piece, "Brewing began in Victoria."

Records include program booklets and promotional material, copies of newspaper articles, correspondence, exhibit inventory, speaking notes, and budget; files from 2002 on (files 5 through 10) include only the public program booklets.
