Sub-series consists of records relating to Fellman's publication of articles in various scholarly journals. Journals include American Studies, the Canadian Review of American Studies, the Journal of the William Morris Society, the Western Humanities Review, the Journal of American History, the Australasian Journal of American Studies, the Journal of Sex Research, Historical Reflections, and the Missouri Historical Review. Records are predominantly offprints, with some manuscript or annotated copies, notes and correspondence.

Sub-series consists of records relating to Fellman's book projects. Records include manuscripts (in paper and digital form), correspondence, research notes and working papers, contracts, reviews, photographs, and book publicity materials.

The files are arranged into separate sub-sub-series for each project. All of Fellman's published works are represented with the exception of his second book, Making Sense of Self. There are in addition materials for two works that were never published: Uneminent Victorians, a series of studies of individuals "falling from respectability in late Victorian England"; and Dirty Civil War, an unfinished novel of the American Civil War.

For the earlier works (sub-sub-series 1 through 4), only paper records exist. For later works (sub-sub-series 5 through 9), digital copies of the manuscripts were included among his computer files, often in multiple versions. The Archives has made no attempt to analyze, compare, or reconcile the various versions of the same work; it has simply assigned a version number (A, B, C etc) based on the date-modification timestamps.

Sub-series consists of records relating to Fellman's research activities. Records include correspondence, notes and working papers, proposals, offprints, reviews of Fellman's works, as well as Fellman's reader evaluation reports of the works of others; includes Fellman's contribution to a festschrift for David Brion Davis, an essay entitled "The Transferability of Otherness: American Expansionists Greet the Filipinos, 1898-1902" (file 9).

Sub-series consists of records relating to Fellman's delivery of special workshops, seminars, and public lectures. Events documented include Fellman's invitation to the University of Zambia (1981); the Davis Center Seminar at Princeton University (1983); a discussion with SFU's Stephen Duguid for a class for the Alaska Prison System (video, ca 1980s); Fellman's paper at the Gettysburg Civil War Institute (1993); the History Colloquium on War, Culture and Personality at Stanford University (1993); Fellman's talks for the Fifth Annual Jeans Lecture in History at the Missouri Southern State College (1999); and the War and Society Workshop delivered at the University of Georgia (2010).

Records include correspondence, visit itineraries, event publicity, seminar and workshop materials, text of lectures, and three video recordings (for the Alaska Prison System class and the two Jeans lectures).

Sub-series consists of publications produced by the Society to inform students about SFSS activities, and SFU campus life and services. Includes student handbooks and guides, the 1967 student directory, a student-run teacher and course evaluation guide for 1978-79, and the annual SFSS Almanac that began in 1986-87 (not all years are included in the run).

Sub-series consists of records relating to the planning and organization of the annual Great Canadian Beer Festival in Victoria. The date range (1993-2014) reflects Rowling's period of involvement in the director organization of the festival. As a director of the GCBF Society, Rowling kept an extensive set of digital files for each year's festival, typically using the same or a similar set of folders to organize the records. Records include festival business plans, surveys and reports; correspondence with breweries, exhibitors, and the BC Liquor Control Board; application and order forms; budgets, invoices and donation correspondence; volunteer task lists and manuals; publicity and media packages. Records exist exclusively in digital form; original file formats are predominantly Microsoft Office documents (doc, docx, xls, xlsx), with a small number of pdfs, jpgs, and PowerPoint files.

Most of the breweries representated belong to the craft beer period (post-1982), but there are some earlier items, including bottle openers for the Victoria-Phoenix Brewing Company and Vancouver Breweries Ltd, as well as a 1911 receipt book for the Silver Spring Brewery.

Sub-series consists of Rowling's collection of beer labels from various BC breweries. Rowling created a scrapbook (digitized as file 1) presenting examples in roughly chronological order, ranging from early Victoria breweries (Sliver Spring, Victoria-Phoenix) through to contemporary craft breweries. In addition to the scrapbook there were a large number of loose labels grouped into envelopes. Labels for pre-craft beer period breweries are arranged in file 2, craft breweries (post-1982) into file 3. Within these groupings, labels are arranged alphabetically by brewery.

Sub-series consists of Rowling's collection of posters relating to beer and breweries in BC. Most posters originate in the craft beer period (post-1982), but file 6 includes two posters for the historical Silver Springs Brewery in Victoria. Other breweries represented include R&B Brewing Company (ca. 1990s), Spinnakers Brewpub (ca. 1990s), Tall Ship Ale Company (ca. 1990s), Cannery Brewing Company (2001), and Phillips Brewing Company (2011). The sub-series also includes a poster for Hopunion (ca. 2000s) and a 1997 poster on BC's Microbrewed Experience.

Sub-series consists of Rowling's collection of beer bottles from various BC breweries. Pre-craft period examples include bottles from the Victoria-Phoenix Brewery, Sick's Capilano Brewery (Old Style Beer, ca. 1940s), Vancouver Breweries (Old Country Ale, ca. 1940s), and a Silver Springs Lager Beer from Labatt's (ca. 1960s). Craft breweries represented include Canoe, Spinnakers and Swans brewpubs, Phillip's Brewing, Tall Ship Ale Company. Includes a bottle of Big Bad John's Traditional English Barley Wine, a beer brewed by Phillips in honour of John Rowling in recognition of his contributions to BC's craft beer community.

What's Brewing was the newsletter of CAMRA Victoria / BC, and Rowling wrote a regular column called The Hopbine, "a fresh gathering of news and gossip." Sub-series consists of John Rowling's collection of artefacts relating to the Great Canadian Beer Festival. Artefacts include t-shirts, buttons, coasters, stickers, tokens, tickets, and Rowling's GCBF cap with brewery buttons.

Sub-series consists of photographs taken at each year's beer festival. In some years, beginning around 2006, the GCBF had multiple photographers at the event. The sub-series is a hybrid of print and digital photos. All print copies are located in file 1; the remainder were transferred in digital form. Around 2003 GCBF photographers shifted from film to digital cameras. Digital copies of earlier photographs are likely scans from the original prints or negatives, whereas the later images were born-digital. The predominant file format is jpg.
