This sub-series consists of mimeographed CCUB convention minutes held in Nadezhda, Verigin Station and Spasskoye between 1908-1912, and photocopies of the CCUB meetings minutes held in Brilliant, BC and Verigin Sask. between 1925-1928. Nadezhda and Verigin minutes contain income and expenditure statements. Most of the Brilliant and Verigin meeting minutes contain by-law documents.

This sub-series consists of the various documents created by operations and activities of the CCUB and its executive members. Most of the documents relate to the legal aspects of the CCUB and Doukhobor community in terms of land holdings, loans, crops, population, attitude towards war, etc. Other documents relate to the administration and ideological structures of the CCUB and the community. The documents include: forms, reports, statements, lists, certificates, correspondences, protocols, congress proceedings, legal counsel correspondence, and notices. The following people and subgroups are mentioned: John Obed Smith, P. Kazakoff, N. Khabykin, I. Makhonin, I. Podovinnikoff, P.P. Verigin, W. M. Malakoff, W. Blackmore, P. V. Verigin, M. V. There is considerable number of original printed forms, mimeographs and manuscript documents, but there are also many photocopies. Documents are both in English and Russian.

This file consists of a couple of statements (1911) by Petr Kazakoff and Nikolai Khabykin witnessed by I. Makhonnin and I. Podovinnikoff, Russian language summary of William Blackmore Royal Commission report (1912); a “public speech” (1913) from the group of Doukhobors departing from Saskatchewan to BC (mimeographed document with manuscript corrections); a document entitled “Counsel and decisions of the Deputies of the Doukhobor Christian Community of Universal Brotherhood” (1915) containing information regarding the state internal discipline, work for coming summer, etc.; “Kanada and Doukhobors” an open letter of James Merv (Mavor?) to Sir Thomas White (1919), document is in Russian, but file contains also translation of the letter in English. In addition, the file contains document signed by J. Obed Smith with seal affixed and a photostatic version. This document is handwritten in Russian and it reads “Office of the Immigration Commissioner in Winnipeg. I, John Obed Smith, city of Winnipeg (…) bear witness to the following”. This document was assuring the Doukhobors that they indeed had received exemption from military service as per the Order in council of December 6, 1898 that expressly included them in the provision of the Militia Act. J. Obed Smith, Commissioner of Immigration in Western Canada, was instructed (or volunteer) to sign individual Russian language copies of this document, possibly one for each of the 50+ villages at that time that the Doukhobors were fearful the Canadian government would change its mind about this policy, just as it did about “hamlet” feature of the Land Act in 1902. The fact that the Doukhobors adopted this Russian text as a “psalm” indicates the value they placed on this actual document, which for the vast majority was the only tangible evidence of the recognition of their pacifist status in Canada. Most documents are mimeographed and are in Russian, some have handwritten notes.

It includes speeches, correspondence, messages, open letters and writings related to Doukhobor communities in British Columbia and Saskatchewan.

This files consists of various documents including Memorandum Calendar published by Hay and Earl Limited, Livestock Commission Merchants, Lethbridge, 1960 containing a manuscript list of Doukhobors with their ages, living in Lundbreck in 1927. It also contains: Engineer Certificate of William M. Malakoff (1928), letter announcing visit of the CCUB representative in Berlin to meet with representative of the U.S.S.R. (L. M. Khinchik to M. I. Kalinin 1931), an address by Justice D.A. McDonald to the CCUB members (1939), BC Post Office roller with Peter V. Verigin 1929-1932 (with supporting documentation researched and provided by J. Keenlyside), list of the CCUB directors as left by P.P. Verigin (Chistiakov) before his death (1939?). Some documents are mimeographed, some are manuscripts; some in English and some in Russian.

This file contains minutes of symposium of Named Doukhobors of Canada (1932), financial records, correspondence, Olga Biriukov's writing.

This file contains broadside appeal from the Ukrainian Labor Temple, January 1922 for funds for starving children in fledging Russian and Ukraine, and 5 page response from Doukhobors dated January 9, 1922 outlining the poverty they themselves are suffering and that Peter Verigin had already contributed. The file contains also 3 page letter to the Red Cross Committee dated February 23, 1922 referring to the hardships experienced by CCUB.

This file contains school notebooks with Russian language studies from Doukhobor community in Verigin SK in 1920-1930s belonging to Peter Plotnikoff and Annie Plotnikoff.

In addition, this file includes message to the members of Named Doukhobors and outline of events relating to dispute trial between P.P. Verigin on one side and Gregori Chytskov and Vasili Konkin on the other, as well as a document by International Anti-War Union. It also includes broadside titled: Declaration of the “Named Doukhobors” of Canada (1934). Most of the documents are original mimeographs, some photocopies; all documents are in Russian.
