Works by Duncan McNaughton and others

This series consists of material found throughout the fonds of which Colin Stuart was not the creator. Primarily these were generated by Colin's good friend, Duncan McNaughton, but other authors are represented as well. The final file in the series contains transcriptions of some of Colin's work, compiled by his sister on the 1-year anniversary of his passing.

Adeena Karasick fonds

  • MsC-162
  • Fonds
  • [197-]-2019

Fonds consists of the literary papers, video recordings, slides, posters, promotional material and digital records of Adeena Karasick. Records document her work as a poet and performer, blurring lines between academic discourse and popular culture in the fields of contemporary poetry, poetics and cultural and semiotic theory.

Karasick, Adeena

Breweriana

Series consists of Rowling's collection of artefacts and merchandise relating to BC breweries. Items include beer bottles, labels and glasses; posters, t-shirt, coasters, bottle openers, keychains, and business cards. Most of the materials relate to post-1980 craft breweries, but there are some beer bottles (sub-series 1), posters (sub-series 3) and artefacts (sub-series 6) for earlier historic BC breweries; see sub-series descriptions for details.

Other beer-related artefacts and merchandise

Sub-series consists of Rowling's collection of brewery- and beer-related small merchandise. Artefacts include coasters, bottle openers, beer caps, and key chains. Most of the breweries representated belong to the craft beer period (post-1982), but there are some earlier items, including bottle openers for the Victoria-Phoenix Brewing Company and Vancouver Breweries Ltd, as well as a 1911 receipt book for the Silver Spring Brewery.

Buy Nothing Day campaign records

Sub-series consists of records created by Adbusters Media Foundation for the Buy Nothing Day advocacy campaign. Buy Nothing Day is an international day of protest against consumerism, coined by artist Ted Dave and promoted by Adbusters. Buy Nothing Day originally took place in September. It was later adjusted to and popularized as taking place on Black Friday, the fourth Friday of November. Buy Nothing Day has been since expanded to Buy Nothing Christmas in order to advocate for buying locally or crafting your own gifts during the holiday season.

Born-digital records include digital graphics, photographs, memes, press releases, moving image "subvertisements," and an audio file of Silent Night recorded in a mall. Paper records include "Buy Nothing Christmas" cards.
