Promotional and advertisement material

Series consists of material related to the promotion and advertisement of Rimmer’s typographic and graphic design work. Records include sample linocut prints, typeface samples, illustration proof-sheets, portfolios, and commercial advertisements.

Rimmer, Jim

Works by others regarding Jim Rimmer

Series consists of works created by others relating to Jim Rimmer. Included are articles pertaining to Rimmer; journals, broadsides and pamphlets set in Rimmer typefaces; and memorial books. Series also includes records relating to the staging of ‘Rimmerfest’ at the SFU Vancouver campus in the fall of 2006. These records include electronic copies and colour printouts of photographs taken at ‘Rimmerfest’ and for a video presentation at the event; writings about Jim; a guestbook; and nineteen broadsides produced by friends and colleagues for the event.

Rimmer, Jim

Records relating to "Son of a Trickster"

Records obtained in an accrual donated by Eden Robinson in 2018 and in 2020. This series consists of a draft of the novel "Son of a Trickster", as well as a review and poster advertisement.

Typeface design

Series consists of material related to Rimmer’s design and production of typefaces for both the Rimmer Type Foundry and the Lanston Type Company. Records include preliminary sketches, drawings in ink and pencil, transparencies, samples, digital print-outs, electronic files, master patterns, specimen castings, matrices, lead working patterns, and cast metal sorts. Some files contain notes and instructions for modification, and some include explanatory comments written by Rimmer. Electronic files were created by Rimmer on a Macintosh computer using the typeface design software IKARUS and saved to 3.5" floppy disks and compact discs.

Personal Records

Series consists of records relating to Thesen's personal life. The series is divided into the four following sub-series: Financial Records, Ephemera, Personal Photographs, and Life Events. Materials include correspondence, writ of summons, invoices, premium statements, a tax return, posters, flyers, postcards, invitations, a pin, and photographs.

Publications

Series consists of publications mostly written by other authors and acquired by Sharon Thesen over the course of her lifetime. Materials includes journals, books, microfiche, zines, a postcard, a box of short poems, and other published materials.

Stamps and related records

Series consists of AIDS-themed single stamps, mint blocks, mint full sheets, slogan cancels, first day covers, comic books and related records collected by Blair Henshaw. Henshaw’s collection represents philatelic materials issued by 84 different jurisdictions.

Writings and personal records

This series consists of personal financial records including bank and pension documents, correspondence and various financial statements. In addition, this series contains Legebokoff’s writings, notes, articles, Iskra clippings, translations, presentations, interviews and other related records and correspondence.
Many records relate to the Doukhobor beliefs and customs.

General records

This series consists of the records relating to the Peter Legebokoff’s association with various Doukhobor organizations, including the USCC, the Joint Doukhobor Research Committee, and the Doukhobor Cultural Association. The records relate to the Doukhobor cultural events, Sunday school meetings, conventions, and other cultural matters. The records include meeting minutes, correspondence, writings, notes, lists, reports, commemorative pins and buttons and other related material.

Correspondence

This series consists of correspondence of Peter Legebokoff with various individuals and organizations within the Doukhobor community and from outside of it, including allies in Canada and abroad. This series includes letters and related material such as songs text, reports, clippings, writings, articles, and photographs.

Writings

This series consists of unpublished writings of members of the Doukhobor community, book drafts, historical and prison accounts, statements, speeches, essays and research notes.

Speeches, writings, views

This series consists of documents that were written by P. V. Verigin himself or by other individuals relating his views and ideas. These documents include transcripts of speeches and interviews, petitions, opinion pieces on the Doukhobor community and faith as well as some of the letter-like documents with his opinions on education. It also contains 70 page manuscript in a notebook by F. I. Wishloff recording P.V. Verign’s speeches. All documents in Russian, except for a few documents supplied with English translation.

Correspondence

This series consists of the personal and the Doukhobor community matters correspondence of P. V. Verigin sent to and received from various members of the CCUB.

Speeches, talks, writings, will

This series consists of mimeographed transcripts of speeches, interviews, talks, writings, messages and will of P. P. Verigin. Most of the records were transcribed/written down by individuals working with P. P. Verigin (transcriber is not always indicated). Some of the transcribers are: V. Sukharev, P. Biriukov, N. Dergaysov, I. Malov. There is only one handwritten message by Verigin himself. Verigin’s will was captured by Mikhail Verigin. In addition, this series includes photocopy of biographical manuscript of “Gloom shadow of Ivan the Terrible” that appears to be written by P.P. Verigin. Some of mimeographed records are original, some are photocopies. All records are in Russian except for some speeches that are supplied with handwritten translation in English.

Photographs

This series consists of 158 images taken by Peter Ogloff of Doukhobor community and Anna Markova’s funeral. The images are duplicates of the original images found on CD-ROMs (MSC121-6-3-0-0-1)

Series consists of a patent agreement filed by Innes and John Linkison King in New York City, for a device to be used in the navigation of ships and airplanes.

This series is comprised of records related to the administration of several of Jim’s business ventures such as J.J. Douglas Ltd., Douglas & McIntyre, and consulting work conducted following his retirement from those companies.

Records pertaining to legal topics

This series is comprised of records related to research Jim compiled while researching legal topics relevant to publishing such as libel, copyright, contract and professional standards.

Books

Series consists of a list of books that were donated as part of the IMAG fonds. These books have been catalogued and are stored according to their call numbers.

IMAGeNation Film Festival

Series consists of documents related to the organization, funding, promotion, administration and hosting of the annual Aboriginal Film and Video festival in Vancouver, from 1998-2007. The series is divided into the follow sub-series: Festival administration; Grant applications and related correspondence; Publicity and promotional materials; Festival submissions, Panels, and Awards.

Records relating to World War II service

This series contains material associated with Ajaib’s World War II military service as an aircraft mechanic in Saskatchewan and the Yukon.
The series is divided into 2 sub-series: Photographs and Textual records.

Publications, clippings, ephemera

This series consists of various published materials such as issues of newspapers, journals, magazines, copy of chapters and articles, clippings, brochures, flyers, booklets, calendars, newsletters, some correspondence and writings relating to the publications. This series also contains events, festivals, choir and other Doukhobor related promotional materials such as posters, flyers and event programs as well as 3 photographs of the choir.

Administrative records

This series contains records related to administrative operation of the Valhalla Wilderness Society and work of Colleen McCrory, including correspondence and contact lists of individuals and organizations that Valhalla cooperated with in some capacity.
This series is divided into two sub-series: Correspondence and General Records.

Programs and flyers

This series consists of promotional materials (flyers, posters, mailings, and some newspaper clippings) and programs of Ruth’s performances over the years. It is possible not only to trace the genesis and evolution of certain pieces, but the breadth of detail in the records serves to contextualize Ruth’s path geographically, stylistically, and professionally among her peers. Beginning with her initial performances with The Dancemakers to her work with the Judson Dance Theatre, her training abroad and graduate studies, her career in dance education and through to her efforts to coordinate community engagement in dance, it is possible to view Ruth’s career through these materials based on the depth of her participation and involvement. In some cases there are multiple copies of the same item.

Ruth Emerson Wortis biographical information

This series consists of biographical information for Ruth Emerson Wortis compiled by the donor. This includes: a copy of the obituary written by Michael Wortis including photocopies of images used, a resume, and a comprehensive list of performances, dances choreographed by Ruth, publications and reviews.

Ruth Emerson Wortis performances and interviews

This series is comprised of two 3-disc collections titled "Ruth Emerson: Her Vancouver & SFU Years". They were produced by the Faculty of Education at Simon Fraser University and contain several recorded performances and interviews conducted over a 9 year period.

Video recordings

Series contains home movies on VHS, copies of video produced for the Al Neil Project in 2005, and one video reel recording of two Al Neil performances.
