Includes drafts of her first three novels: Tamarind Mem (1997), The Hero’s Walk and Can You Hear the Nightbird Call?. There are no records related to her last novel, Tell it to the Trees (2011). Fonds consists of material created, received and used by Colleen McCrory during her work as founder of the Valhalla Wilderness Society and as a member of the BC Environmental Network, Taiga Resource Network, the Boreal Forest Network and Canada's Future Forest Alliance. Includes material relating to the activities and accomplishments of these groups in general, as well as records pertaining to environmental movements and activities at the provincial, national and international level, and a significant amount of material relating to indigenous peoples' roles in these movements. Material also documents McCrory's achievements, honours and recognition. Records include correspondence, reports, newspaper clippings, newsletters, books, journals, posters and a flag. Major subject areas covered include: Clayoquot Sound, Carmanah Valley, Stein Valley, lower Stikine, pulp mills, logging and forestry, gas industry, dams, legal disputes, campaigns to save specific areas in B.C., particularly the Slocan Valley and areas in the Kootenays, the proposed Jumbo Glacier ski resort, activities of the New Democratic Party of BC. Together these records document the history of environmental movement in British Columbia and Canada.
However, Valhalla Wilderness Society fonds contain very little material on major campaigns that VWS worked on, like watershed conflicts in the Slocan Valley. VWS decided that these materials are still essential for the ongoing business of their organization.

Ruth Emerson Wortis was a pioneer of modern dance, as well as a prolific choreographer, performer and dance educator. She was one of the founding members of the Judson Dance Group, which itself is credited for the rise of the Postmodern dance movement. This fonds follows the development of Ruth’s career through an extensive collection of performance programs, photographs, music scores, publications and reviews, choreographic materials such as dance and movement scores, and both personal and professional notes. Also seen is the effect of Ruth’s academic and teaching career on her dancing style as, over the years, she shifts slightly from the avant-garde for performance sake towards breaking down gender stereotypes in dance education by encouraging dance for movement’s sake to children and community groups.

The fonds consists of correspondence from Cid Corman to Gael Turnbull; rejections from Poetry, Tiger's Eye, and Howard Griffin; and correspondence with Robert Singer.

After immigrating to Canada following World War II, David Macaree (d. 1998) earned his M.A from UBC and PhD from the University of Washington. He joined the Department of English at UBC, his primary areas of interest being 18th-century literature (mostly Defoe) and English composition, and remained a faculty member until his retirement in 1985.

Mary Macaree (1922-2008) qualified as a teacher in Scotland and then as a librarian upon immigrating to Canada. She received her Bachelor of Library Science degree from UBC in 1963 and became that institution’s head librarian in 1968. She retired in 1985.

One of Mary’s hobbies included Scottish country dancing and she also took a philanthropic interest in the development of libraries and programs supporting Scottish culture and studies. She and her husband were avid hikers and proponents of the outdoors, together they authored two popular books “103 Hikes in Southwestern British Columbia” and “109 Walks in British Columbia's Lower Mainland”.

David passed away in 1998, and Mary in 2008.

The fonds is arranged into two sous-fonds, one for each creator. The David Macaree sous-fonds is arranged into the following three series: Papers authored (1951-1986), Papers authored by others (1963-1998), and Robbie Burns research and associated notes (1961-1996). The Mary Macaree sous-fonds is also arranged into three series: Papers authored (1959-1964), Records associated with Scottish country dancing (1961-2000), and Records associated with universities and other entities (2005-2007).

Fonds consists of research material, scripts, notebooks, permissions and source footage used by Kovanic in the production of her documentary films. Suspino: A Cry for Roma was released in 2003 and directed by Kovanic and produced by Tamarin Productions. The film uses interviews, a profile of a refugee family, and historical footage in order to trace the experience of persecuted Romani peoples in Eastern Europe, primarily Romania. Other films in the fonds include Our Tears Run Red, Yellow and Green, Baboon Tales and Dreaming a Nation: The Kurds, from 1994.

Fonds consists of posters, handbills, zines, newspapers, comics, original artwork, scripts, promotional material and audiovisual records related to the Vancouver political art and punk scenes in the 1980s and 1990s.

Fonds consists of records relating to Kamboureli's work as a researcher and writer of criticism of Canadian literature. Records include author files, manuscripts, diaries, correspondence with authors such as Robert Kroetsch, Nana Issaia, Daphne Marlatt, Frank Davey, Fred Wah, and Lola Lemire Tostevin.

Fonds consists of records relating to the activities of the Social Credit Women's Auxiliary and materials collected by Flo Dickinson as a member of the auxiliary. These include campaign material, photographs, correspondence, textiles, certificates, newspaper clippings, placards, account books, reports, magazines, brochures, and ephemera.

The fonds reflects the role of the BC Provincial Police Veterans’ Association in maintaining the relationships and memories of the men who served on the police force. Records include written reminiscences, newspaper clippings, and photographs of the men in service, as well as documentation and photographs of the activities of the Veterans’ Association and the lives of members.
