Scope and content
This file consists of autobiographical manuscript, in two different lined notebooks, 229 pages and ca. 200 pages, in various inks, dated 1921 and 1972. Some added loose pages laid in to earlier notebook, both in very good condition. These two notebooks were edited and that version was printed in Russian in Iskra nos. 1921-1933 (March to November 2002). A highly unusual “diary” of events in Tomilin’s life as a Doukhobor in post-Soviet Russia, concluding with his coming to Canada as an old man. The only known first-hand account of Doukhobor life in the early days of the Soviet regime.
