Biographical history
Peter P. Legebokoff (1912-1977) was an activist, historian, ideologist, theologian and a curator. Legebokoff was born in Pelly, Saskatchewan and moved with his parents to Pladarodnoe village in the Kootenays. Legebokoff was a lifelong member of the USCC.
Legebokoff worked as editor of Iskra for 22 years, and played a key role in preparation and publication of the Sbornik containing the vast majority of all Doukhobors psalms, hymns and folksongs. He played important role in the final editing of that seminal volume together with Anna Markova, as well as in researching and composing pertinent historical commentary and annotations. In his final years, he worked as curator of the Kootenay Doukhobor Historical Village in Castlegar (today known as the Doukhobor Discovery Center).
