Summer Symposium files

This sub-series consists of records relating to the planning, organization and delivery of the Summer Symposiums. Activities documented include planning, development of workshop content, student evaluation of the program, and final reporting. Records include correspondence, reports, meeting minutes, schedules and outlines, budgets and financial working papers, evaluation forms.

Summer Institute files

This sub-series consists of records relating to the planning, organization and delivery of the Summer Institutes. Activities documented include planning, funding, hiring of instructors, publicity and media relations, development of workshop content, review and reporting. Records include program descriptions, schedules and reading lists, correspondence, proposals, meeting minutes, reports, budgets and financial papers, funding proposals and grant applications, letters of appointments, invoices, cheque requisition forms, expense statements, media releases, programs and flyers.

Subscription records

Sub-series contains born-digital records associated with subscriptions to Adbusters Magazine. These records include magazine subscription insert cards; generic notices for individuals whose subscriptions are set to expire (filed as "sayonara"); resubscription notice mailing schedules; and other subscriber communications such as calls for donation.

Submissions and solicitations

Press Gang Publishers responded to manuscript submissions and book proposals by either declining to publish the material (rejections) or requesting additional material for further evaluation (solicitations). This sub-series consists of records relating to these decisions. Records include correspondence, proposals, manuscript samples, notes, and working papers.

Subject files

Subseries consists of records arising from Smythe's personal interests and activities. Subseries includes lectures by Smythe and his colleague Tran Van Dinh (on audiocassette); interviews with Smythe (on video cassette); correspondence and reports regarding Smythe's FBI file and the Dies Committee on Subversive Activities (the House Committee on Un-American Activities); drafts and correspondence arising from proposed radio and movie projects developed by Smythe; correspondence regarding a festschrift of his work; and records relating to his anti-war activities.

Subject files

Subseries consists of records compiled by Smythe to support his research interests. Subseries includes lecture notes, addresses, photocopied monographs, notes, reports, and other materials. Records are organized into subject based files, including topics such as postal service, fax technology, the radio and television industries, newspapers and printing, media regulation, the peace movement, and other subjects.

Subject correspondence

Sub-series consists of correspondence relating to specific subjects, such as acid rain and oil spills. Also includes correspondence relating to conferences attended by McTaggart-Cowan.

Students

Sub-series consists of records relating to the administration and support of students and organizations on campus and includes documents about student employment; rotunda use and renovation; the C.K.S.F. radio station; student profile studies and surveys; exit interviews; student handbooks; and the readmission of students via the special semester project. Also included is Stewart's correspondence with the Student Society, The Peak, and the Women's Centre. Records include correspondence and working papers, reports, financial statements, architectural plans, and publications.

Student Services Departments

Sub-series consists of records relating to the operation and daily administration of Student Services Departments on campus and includes Dean's correspondence with student services departments, members of the university community, and external organizations; planning documents, staff memoranda; annual reports; and project proposals. Records include correspondence and working papers, agendas and minutes, reports, and financial statements.

Student Services

Sub-series consists of the Associate Vice-President, Academic's correspondence with, related to, or copied from Student Services. Although Student Services did not move to the VP Academic's reporting portfolio until 1994, the AVP Academic maintained a correspondence with the Director and with the various units comprising Student Services, including Athletics and Recreation, Health Services, the Day Care Centre, and Residence and Housing. The AVP Academic's Office also filed here correspondence with or relating to the Simon Fraser Student Society (SFSS). Records consists predominantly of correspondence, with some reports.
