Literary events and publication

Series documents the publication and critical reception of Stanley’s work and his interaction with the broader literary community.

Series includes: correspondence, financial records, contracts, and sound recordings of readings.

Literary works

Series consists of manuscripts, typescript drafts and working papers for Mootoo’s literary compositions, including novels, short stories, poetry, and lectures and talks delivered on various occasions.

Mail orders

Series is comprised of correspondence, notes, inventories and personal mail orders for books fulfilled by Duthie Books’ warehouse. Records document Duthie's book searches, orders from individuals, and shipments of books to customers from across British Columbia and countries around the world.

Manuscripts

Series consists of typed and handwritten manuscripts of stories, novels, and poems written by June Skinner. It also contains galley proofs from several of her novels. Series is arranged into two sub-series: Published ([195-?]-1981), and Unpublished (1936-[1992?]).

Series consists of manuscripts from 2 works, "A Guide to the Native Literatures of North America," and "Women in Native American Literature," both unpublished at the time of donation.

Manuscripts, correspondence and other records relating to Flood's novels

Series consists of records relating to Flood’s two novels, one published and one unpublished. Records include handwritten and typed manuscripts, correspondence, drafts, research materials, publishing records and a published excerpt. The series is divided into two sub-series: The woman in the window (1974-1980) and Making a stone of the heart (1994-2004).

Manuscripts, drafts, and notes

This series consists of the extensive bulk of Colin Stuart's body of work - largely unpublished and/or incomplete. It has been divided into two sub-series: Manuscripts and complete poems (1967-[200-]) and Partial manuscripts, drafts, and notes ([ca. 1964]-[before May 2018]).

Marketing files

Series consists of records generated by the marketing department of Duthie Books’ head office. Key staff members were Marketing Managers Scott Baldwin and Leanne Nash. Records document the organization of events, annual sales, the customer loyalty program, co-operative promotions, signage, and advertising. Series is divided into the following three sub-series: Events files (1997-1999); Marketing and promotions files (1993-1999) and Advertising files (1997-1999).

Marketing files

Series consists of records documenting the marketing efforts of members of the filling Station Publications Society. These include requests for review copies, notes, submissions to the Western Magazine Awards, a National Magazine Award Honourable Mention, and promotional material advertising the magazine.

Media

This series consists of sound recordings of interview with Hugh Herbison, sound recording of Stephan Sorokin’s funeral and a recording of the CBC program on Doukhobors’ tapestry.

Moving images and audiovisual material

This series contains the various videotapes (and some cassettes and other multimedia formats) scattered throughout the collection. Some are professional copies, most are home recordings of various shows, most of which it is presumed LaPierre played a part or had an interest in.

Musical performances, sound recordings and related records

Series consists of sound recordings and related materials created or accumulated by Peter Trower. These include recordings of Trower's musical and performance projects, recordings of Trower's readings, recordings of the readings of other poets, and other musical albums and sound recordings accumulated by Trower. Trower's musical and performance projects have included the blues-rock band "Industrial Accident," the variety show group "Caulk Boots and Marlin Spikes," and Trower's two albums of poetry read aloud to musical accompaniment, "Sidewalks and Sidehills" and "Kisses in the Whiskey." Sound recordings of other writers and musicians accumulated by Trower are from friends of Trower's, writers who have influenced his work, and musical artists' of whom he is a fan.

Newspaper articles and party newsletters

This sub-series contains entire issues of party newsletters covering period between 1954 and 2005 and newspaper clippings covering 1988-1991. The clippings were originally cut from local newspapers, principally The Province and The Sun. The news clippings are from period of 1988 to 1991 and reflect very challenging times that BC Social Credit and the BC Social Credit Government Caucus was experiencing at that time.

Newspaper Clippings

Series consists of newspaper clippings, dating from 1946-2012. The clippings pertain to the lives of Harry and Valerie Jerome, including their achievements in track and involvement in various groups and initiatives. There are also several clippings about Valerie’s son and Harry’s nephew, Stuart Parker, primarily concerning his role in the British Columbia Green Party – first as a member of the Young Greens political youth organization and eventually as leader of the Green Party. As the clippings were accumulated by different persons, including Harry, Valerie, and friends who sent the clippings to Valerie following Harry’s death, they are contained within their own series. The clippings reflect the mixed reaction that the media had towards Harry Jerome; many of the articles are critical of Harry. During the peak years of his career from 1960-1968, there are many articles about his various races, records, and injuries. The

clippings dating from 1982-2012 were collected by Valerie Jerome and include posthumous articles about Harry and the creation/unveiling of the Harry Jerome statue. There are also several clippings on Valerie’s political career, including campaign ads, letters to the editor and news stories from political events.

Newspaper clippings

Series consists of records relating to newspaper articles written by James Delgado, featuring Delgado, or citing him or his work. These articles relate primarily to his early work on archaeological digs, his writing, expeditions he has participated in, and to shipwreck discoveries. Records include email printouts and newspaper clippings (both originals and photocopied reproductions).

Newspaper clippings and media coverage

Series consists of newspaper clippings, articles from magazines, print-outs of online articles, flyers for the Burnaby Correctional Institute for Women Library, pamphlets, newsletters, associated correspondence, and press releases related to Betty Krawczyk’s environmental activities, prison sentence, and court case. Reviews of Betty’s published works are included in the series. Series also contains print copies of Betty’s blog posts. There is coverage of various community activism groups, including aboriginal issues in British Columbia. Some of the records are photocopies and photographs.

Series consists of the chapbooks and editorial records generated from the publishing activity of No press since its founding. Series contains the following sub-series: No press publications (2005–2015); Editorial files (2005–2014).

Non-fiction works records

Series consists of records relating to non-fiction works written by Daphne Marlatt. Records include manuscripts, newspaper clippings, and photographs.

Series has been arranged into the following three sub-series: "Readings from the labyrinth" records (1981-1998), "At the river's mouth: writing migrations" records (2008), and Reviews of other writers (1975-2002).

Notebooks

This series consists of notebooks found throughout the fonds and collected for ease of access. They consist of poem drafts, random notes or musings, and personal diaries kept from Colin's student days up until shortly before his death in 2018.

Series consists of notebooks kept by Gladys Maria Hindmarch. Notebooks contain journal entries, notes and drafts for her writings, drafts of outgoing letters, and other personal notes.

This series contains Bartlett’s notebooks which have a wide array of content. Travel journals, sailing logs, computer schemas, sketch books, and compositional sketches are included. Relevant content may also be found for other series such as Series 5: Gamelan, Series 6: Research materials, Series 7: Writing, Series 8: Computer Programming, and Series 9: Compositions.

Series consists of early writings, mainly composed during Mootoo’s school days, as well as various notebooks kept by the author over subsequent years.

Notes, transcriptions and other textual records

This series consists primarily of notes and transcripts of correspondence that were used by Grace MacInnis in her research and writing of a biography of her father. Some of J.S. Woodsworth's and Angus MacInnis's original writings are also included, including a manuscript written by J.S. regarding a trip to Russia in 1932, and a collection of Angus MacInnis's diaries.
